This is an advanced-level position responsible for performing preventive maintenance and complex repairs on a wide variety of vehicles, rolling stock, and non-rolling equipment in the fleet.Responsibilities:\nDiagnose and repair gasoline, diesel, and other types of alternative fuel-powered equipment\nTroubleshoot and service hydraulic and electrical systems\nMaintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used\nProvide technical support and guidance to entry level mechanics and garage personnel\nEnsure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and departmental procedures\nThis role requires a high level of expertise and a thorough understanding of all procedures and protocols within the assigned area.\n\nMaster Mechanic I – Minimum Requirements\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent, plus additional specialized training in automotive and/or mechanical repair.\nMinimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in automotive or mechanical repair.\nKnowledge and skills related to the repair of fire apparatus and emergency medical units is strongly preferred.\nAdditional Requirements:\nMust possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); Class B is required, Class A is preferred.
