The brand headquarters is located in the Silver Lake/Frogtown area of Los Angeles and is actively led by Clare Vivier.\nThe Interim Vice President of Design is responsible for managing the design team and ensuring\ndevelopment execution of the Creative Director’s seasonal design vision and strategy across the\nhandbag, SLG, and apparel collections. This role translates the Creative Director’s vision into\ncommercially successful collections while balancing creativity, innovation, operational efficiency,\nand business objectives.\nThe Interim VP of Design partners closely with Merchandising, Product Development,\nProduction, Planning, and Executive Leadership to ensure collections align with brand strategy,\ncalendar milestones, profitability goals, and customer needs.\nThis is an interim appointment from mid-October 2026 to mid-March 2027, including a defined\noverlap period at both the commencement and conclusion of the term to facilitate a\ncomprehensive transition with the full-time VP. Clare V. is seeking a candidate with established\nfamiliarity with the brand and a thorough understanding of product development processes,\nenabling them to contribute meaningfully from the outset.\nRequirements\nResponsibilities:\nCreative Leadership & Design Strategy\nImplement the seasonal design direction for handbags, small leather goods, apparel,\nand accessories in partnership with the Founder and Creative Director\nTranslate creative vision into commercially viable assortments aligned with brand\npositioning and business objectives\nDrive strategic thinking around product assortments, category growth, customer needs,\nand long-term brand evolution\nProduct Development & Cross Functional Partnership\nPartner with Product Development, Production, Merchandising, and Planning teams to\nestablish annual and seasonal calendars, milestones, and development priorities\nEnsure design concepts are aligned with cost targets, margin expectations, development\nratios, and operational capabilities\nOversee the design development lifecycle, including sketches, CADs, tech packs, fittings,\nsample reviews, and market presentations\nCollaborate cross-functionally to optimize assortments, SKU productivity, and seasonal\nproduct strategies based on sales analysis and business performance\nLead collection reviews, milestone meetings, and market presentations with clarity,\norganization, and strategic direction\nTeam Leadership & Development\nLead, coach, and mentor the Design team to ensure strong performance, accountability,\ncollaboration, and professional growth\nFoster and maintain a creative, inclusive, collaborative, and solution-oriented team\nculture\nManage internal and freelance design resources, ensuring workload optimization and\nefficient execution across categories\nOperations & Business Management\nDrive operational efficiency and profitability through optimization of development\nratios, sample counts, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation\nEnsure teams are working effectively against calendar deadlines while maintaining\ndesign integrity and quality standards\nBalance creative innovation with financial responsibility and operational execution\nSkills & Experience\nBachelors degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or related design field\nMinimum 15+ years of relevant industry experience designing and developing\nhandbags/accessories\nProgressive experience in handbag, accessories, or fashion design, including leadership\nexperience managing creative teams\nStrong understanding of the full product lifecycle from concept through\ncommercialization\nExpert knowledge of handbag construction, leather, materials, sourcing, and\nmanufacturing processes\nProven ability to lead and develop high-performing creative teams\nStrong strategic thinking, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills\nExcellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership abilities\nDemonstrated experience balancing creative vision with business objectives and\nprofitability goals\nAdvanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and PLM systems\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nExperience working with domestic and international factories and development\npartners\nExperience in luxury, contemporary, or accessories-focused fashion brands\nExperience with assortment planning, merchandising strategy, and SKU optimization\nFamiliarity with WFX PLM or similar product lifecycle management systems\nStrong
