Target platforms include modern multicore SoCs such as the NXP i.MX 9 family, combining Linux application processors, real-time microcontroller cores, and neural processing accelerators.\nHow you will do it\nArchitect, design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for automotive telemetry gateways and intelligent battery sensors.\nDevelop bare-metal C/C++ firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.\nDevelop real-time applications using Zephyr RTOS and FreeRTOS, including tasks, synchronization, interrupt handling, timing, and resource management.\nDevelop Board Support Packages, boot code, peripheral drivers, and hardware abstraction layers.\nBuild and maintain custom embedded Linux distributions using the Yocto Project, including:BitBake recipes and layers\nMachine and distribution configurations\nKernel, bootloader, device-tree, and driver integration\nPackage selection, image generation, and update strategies\nReproducible build and release processes\n\nDevelop Linux userspace services and applications for LTE-connected automotive gateways.\nDevelop software for heterogeneous SoCs containing ARM Cortex-A, ARM Cortex-M, and NPU cores.\nDesign communication and coordination between Linux, RTOS, and accelerator domains using mechanisms such as RPMsg, OpenAMP, shared memory, IPC, and vendor-provided frameworks.\nIntegrate and optimize machine-learning inference workloads for NPUs and other edge accelerators.\nDevelop telemetry data acquisition, processing, storage, and secure cloud-communication pipelines.\nDevelop firmware for intelligent battery sensors and analog front ends that measure battery voltage, current, and temperature.\nImplement or integrate algorithms supporting battery State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH) estimation.\nIntegrate LTE modems, GNSS receivers, sensors, vehicle networks, and other gateway peripherals.\nImplement robust fault detection, diagnostics, logging, watchdog, recovery, and over-the-air update capabilities.\nAnalyze system performance, memory utilization, timing, power consumption, and communication reliability.\nDebug complex hardware/software and multicore issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD debuggers, trace tools, and protocol analyzers.\nProduce software requirements, architecture documents, interface specifications, design documentation, and verification evidence.\nConduct code and design reviews and mentor other embedded software developers.\nCollaborate with systems, hardware, cloud, data science, cybersecurity, validation, manufacturing, and product teams.\nSupport prototype development, system integration, vehicle testing, production launch, and field-issue resolution.\nWhat we look for\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.\n5+ years of professional embedded software development experience.\nExpert-level proficiency in embedded C and C++.\nStrong experience developing bare-metal firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.\nProduction experience with at least one embedded RTOS, preferably Zephyr or FreeRTOS.\nStrong understanding of:Interrupts, exceptions, and boot sequences\nConcurrency and synchronization\nReal-time scheduling and timing analysis\nMemory-mapped I/O and DMA\nCache coherency and memory barriers\nLinker scripts, startup code, and memory layouts\nLow-power and resource-constrained design\n\nEmbedded Linux development experience on ARM Cortex-A platforms.\nPractical experience creating and maintaining custom Linux images with the Yocto Project.\nExperience with Linux kernel configuration, device trees, bootloaders, system services, and userspace development.\nExperience developing or integrating Linux device drivers and low-level hardware interfaces.\nExperience with common embedded communication interfaces and protocols, including:CAN and CAN FD\nUART\nSPI\nI²C\nEthernet\nUSB\n\nExperience with embedded networking and connected-device protocols such as TCP/IP, TLS, MQTT, HTTPS, or similar technologies.\nExperience using Git, automated builds, static analysis, unit testing, and continuous integration.\nStrong troubleshooting skills across hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, and applications.\nAbility to translate system requirements into maintainable software architectures and well-tested implementations.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred\nExperience with the NXP i.MX 8 or i.MX 9 family or comparable heterogeneous automotive SoCs.\nExperience developing coordinated software for Cortex-A and Cortex-M cores on the same SoC.\nExperience with OpenAMP, RPMsg, remoteproc, shared-memory IPC, or equivalent multicore communication frameworks.\nExperience deploying and optimizing machine-learning models on embedded NPUs.\nFamiliarity with TensorFlow Lite, ONNX Runtime, neural-network quantization, or vendor-specific inference toolchains.\nExperience with LTE/4G/5G modems, GNSS, modem management, SIM/eSIM provisioning, and cellular connectivity diagnostics.\nExperience with automotive communication and diagnostic protocols, including UDS, J1939, ISO-TP, or DoIP.\nKnowledge of automotive software-development practices, including ASPICE, ISO 26262, or functional-safety concepts.\nKnowledge of automotive cybersecurity and secure embedded design, including ISO/SAE 21434.\nExperience with secure boot, hardware roots of trust, key management, encrypted storage, signed firmware, and secure OTA updates.\nExperience with Mender, SWUpdate, Aktualizr, RAUC, or similar embedded Linux update
