This role is responsible for leading the mechanical design and development of advanced energy storage systems for electric and hybrid vehicles, ensuring innovation, quality, manufacturability, and compliance with OEM and aftermarket requirements.\nWhat You’ll Do (Impact Areas)\nDesign and coordinate product development of advanced energy storage systems focused on automotive electrification technologies.\nOversee the design and development of mechanical components and sub-systems of lithium-ion batteries in collaboration with electrical, systems, software, and manufacturing teams.\nDesign multiple complex mechanical components using SolidWorks, including molded plastic, metal, and structural parts for high-volume production.\nPrepare and review packaging studies for new product development and customer vehicle integration.\nLead or conduct FEA and CFD analysis, validation testing, and results interpretation in areas such as vibration durability, mechanical shock, crashworthiness, and structural engineering.\nPerform tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T principles; provide coaching to other engineers.\nImplement design for manufacturability (DFM) and sustainable lifecycle design to ensure ease of handling from production through disassembly and recycling.\nPrepare technical documentation including DFMEAs, evaluations, test requests, and reports, and contribute to validation plans (DVP&R).\nCollaborate with suppliers to resolve technical issues and optimize component sourcing.\nLead cost reduction initiatives and support product quality through APQP.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nKPIs: Achieve product development timelines and deliver successful product launches.\nQuality: Design free of critical failures with verified manufacturability and DFMEA/DVP&R compliance.\nImpact: Cost reduction through component optimization and strong internal stakeholder satisfaction.\nBehavioral Indicators: Serves as a technical reference and cross-functional collaborator.\nCore Competencies\nAnalytical thinking and structured problem-solving approach.\nEngineering project management and technical leadership.\nCross-functional collaboration and clear communication.\nQuality orientation, continuous improvement, and efficient design execution.\nProficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).\nWhat You Bring (Qualifications)\nRequired: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Proven experience in plastic part design and injection molding processes. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on SolidWorks experience. Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and proficiency in MS Office tools.\nPreferred: General understanding of electrical and thermal engineering.
