This role will lead continuous process improvement, implement scalable controls, and act as a key finance partner in a fast-paced environment. Beyond core controllership, the role carries an FP&A mandate: owning Budget v Actual reporting and running the Company’s financial model in conjunction with the CFO. We are looking for a proactive owner - someone who takes an overall interest in the business, continuously improves workflows and reconciliations, and can master a complex billing and revenue cycle.\nKey Accountabilities\nDirect and control all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and all month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.\nEnsure compliance with ASC 606/IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards across complex recurring and services revenue streams, developing a deep understanding of the Company’s billing and revenue cycle and working closely with Revenue Operations and Legal to align on contract terms and how they convert to revenue.\nLead the preparation of periodic financial statements for management, investors, and auditors.\nDrive internal Budget v Actual reporting to members of the leadership team, and, in conjunction with the CFO, update the Company’s financial model, test assumptions, and support forecasts.\nManage the Company’s finance systems, including NetSuite, Bill, Avalara, and related tools, ensuring accurate data flow, integration, and system utilization.\nDevelop, document, and implement efficient internal controls, scalable processes, and continuous improvements to workflows and reconciliations across all finance functions.\nResponsible for tax filings, sales/use tax, and regulatory compliance in partnership with external advisors.\nManage external audit, tax, and valuation providers and associated audit and compliance activities.\nOwn cash management and risk management policies and enforcement.\nSupervise, mentor, and grow the accounting team, driving accountability and professional development.\nWho You Are\nRequired Skills:\nSan Francisco based - this will be a hybrid model with 2 days per week in our South San Francisco office.\nBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Master’s degree or CPA preferred.\nProven experience as a Controller in SaaS or recurring-revenue businesses, with deep technical knowledge of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for SaaS and service contracts.\nMastery of NetSuite, Bill, and related accounting/finance systems.\nDemonstrated experience with complex contracting, invoicing, and revenue recognition - customers with multiple concurrent SOWs, mixed revenue types, and shifting delivery timeframes - and the ability to get their arms completely around the contract-to-revenue lifecycle.\nTrack record of designing and driving accounting and operational process change, ideally in high-growth/PE/start-up environments.\nHands-on FP&A experience, including Budget v Actual reporting, forecasting, and building or running an operating financial model.\nDemonstrated ability to lead teams, scale systems, and deliver timely, accurate financial reporting.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.\nJoin Us\nWe are seeking to add new expertise and perspective to our strong team of experienced professionals.
