The position will perform engineering functions as required to design and/or redesign products in accordance with quality, production and customer standards. The position involves organizing and executing various engineering and other tasks associated with creating and implementing product designs.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nGather data concerning the product and its design. Data is obtained from such sources as customer comments/complaints, existing designs, warranty reports, performance and endurance testing, etc. Understand and interpret data to identify criteria for new and/or modification designs.\nCoordinate efforts with various departments and groups both internal and external to the company.\nSuch groups may include:\nMarketing- to gain customer input, develop cost, and pricing estimates.\nManufacturing- to implement changes, improve production efficiency and quality\nVendors- to order parts, ensure quality supplies \nPurchasers- to obtain & order parts, determine component prices\nCustomers- to improve customer satisfaction, gain input about customer needs\nOther Engineers- for assistance with designs solutions, ensure design fit \nResponsible to perform and oversee various quality checks to ensure trucks meet specifications\nResponsible to conduct various testing procedures, analyze results and take corrective actions if needed\nCreate and develop new and/or revised product designs using NX design drafting system for output, layouts, detail drawings, Sl drawings and/or others as required.\nPerform basic and complex calculations in mechanical, electrical or hydraulic engineering.\nDetermine and analyze various design attributes. Such attributes may include, strength, loads, forces, stress, tolerances, fluid pressure and flow rates, etc.\nField and answer questions about products and product design.\nCommunicate designs and changes to others by making recommendations, proposals and presentations.\nConduct and oversee the assembly, building, ordering, installation, and testing of prototype parts. Oversee and perform testing functions to ensure that tests are conducted as needed.\nCheck and verify the completeness and accuracy of all work performed by the incumbent and the work of others.\nMaintain a high level of technical competence, including knowledge of the product, customer needs, and competitor products.\nUnderstand and apply the standards set forth in UL, NFPA, ANSI, ISO, ITA and others in all work.\nImplement, direct & assist in quality improvement teams. Involves team approach to improving such things as manufacturing processes, efficiency, product quality, cost, and customer relations. Make presentations and reports about team findings.\nTravel to other facilities or places to participate in meetings, examine truck operation, etc.\nInvestigate problems in product designs. May require on-site observation of truck operation, disassembly and inspection of parts, analysis of truck parts and components.\nAssemble prototypes of trucks and/or truck components.\nSharing information and answering questions concerning planning, design, alterations, production, etc.\nParticipate as a team member in work, meetings, teleconferences both domestically and internationally, and other functions such as transferring information to others, improving working relationships with co-workers, developing the competencies of subordinates, contributing to team success.\nShow effective concern for the quality of all output and the needs, concerns and priorities of all customers\" both internal and external to the company.\n\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\n4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences\nMinimum of 3 years’ experience in product engineering designing mobile equipment or 5 years of product design in a related field.\nPrior experience using a design drafting package preferably NX\nPrior experience using an MRP system\nBasic mechanical understanding of fork truck design and operation.\nMust be able to travel abroad, including North America and Internationally\nMust be able to work in the U.S. indefinitely without any sponsorship\n\nDISCLAIMER:\nThis position description is not intended and should not be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts or working conditions associated with the job; it is intended to be an accurate reflection of those principal job elements essential to the job.
