Lab Chemist I - Tacoma, WA
Clean Harbors is seeking a Lab Chemist I to join our small, busy laboratory in Seattle, WA. This is a hands-on role where you will handle samples from start to finish, from logging them in to reporting test results.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Pay: $30.50/hour
Position: Nonunion
About the facility
This is a small facility with a small lab team, but it handles a wide variety of work. The facility receives materials including wastewater, oil, gasoline, diesel, drums, and materials for solidification. You will work closely with the lab manager and other chemists.
What your day looks like
Samples arrive from the facility yard, through the mail, or from sales team members. You will log each sample, prepare it for the appropriate tests, and run analyses using laboratory instruments. Once testing is complete, you will review the results, enter the data, prepare reports, and send out the findings. You will also help with routine equipment upkeep, washing labware, and keeping the lab clean and organized.

Responsibilities
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Receive, log, and prepare samples for testing.
- Analyze samples using laboratory instruments, including GC/MS and ICP-OES.
- Review results, enter data, and prepare reports.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
- Properly manage waste generated during testing.
- Keep the laboratory clean and organized.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science.
- Laboratory experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Experience with GC/MS, ICP-OES, or wastewater testing is a plus.
- Strong organization, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to accurately document and review test results.
