This hands-on leadership position combines engineering team management with direct technical responsibility for the sizing, selection, and proposal development of water treatment process equipment including chemical feed, disinfection, mixing, and related treatment systems. The ideal candidate will have a background in municipal water infrastructure, treatment plant equipment, process engineering, or capital equipment applications engineering.\nEssential Job Functions\nWork directly with the sales team to provide engineering design support for chemical feed and mixing equipment based on customer needs, technical resources, design specifications, and budgetary constraints.\nDevelop proposals including design basis, specifications, drawings, and pricing.\nPrepare detailed material and labor cost estimates for the design and supply of equipment per written specifications.\nDevelop proposals including process descriptions, work scopes, equipment lists, technical and commercial clarifications, exceptions to bid documents, and system pricing to meet customer requirements.\nReview bid documents and provide feedback to align equipment offering with plan and specification requirements as well as recommendations for alternative designs.\nApprove proposals compiled by the AE team including scopes of work, specifications, drawings, process descriptions, technical and commercial clarifications and exceptions to bid documents and system pricing to fulfill the requirements of customer specifications.\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of applications engineers, setting clear expectations and performance standards.\nActively manage team workload, priorities, and schedules to ensure on-time proposal and engineering deliverables.\nServe as a technical escalation point for complex or high-risk applications.\nBalance personal technical workload with team leadership responsibilities to maintain responsiveness and quality.\nCoordinate staffing and resource planning to support sales demand and forecasted workload.\nDrive consistency in application engineering processes, proposal quality, and technical standards.\nPartner with Sales, Operations, and Engineering leadership to improve responsiveness, specification positioning, and win rates.\nIdentify knowledge gaps, training needs, and process improvements within the Applications Engineering group.\nRequired Qualifications\nB.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical, civil, chemical or environmental engineering or related degree.\nThree to five years of engineering experience in a technical role or similar field.\nTwo to five years as a supervisor or manager.\nAbility to work well with others with minimal supervision.\nStrong time management and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage both personal and team workloads.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.\nExcellent technical writing skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.\n2D CAD design experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in applications or a sales support role that included bidding and selling capital equipment.\nExperience or knowledge of water disinfection and mixing technology, especially equipment sizing.\nIdentify and define system design requirements.\nExperience in mechanical design.\nExperience with customer relationship management software (Salesforce).\n2D CAD design experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to sit for long periods of time.\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.\nAbility to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.\nWork Environment\nApproximately 75% Office\nApproximately 25% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities.
