From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.\nWe are looking for aSpacecraft Propulsion Architectto join our team !\nThe Role\nThe successful candidate will be a key member of the Mechanical, Thermal and Propulsion (MTP) team and will act as the technical authority for the spacecraft propulsion design. The Propulsion Architect will contribute directly to the development of ClearSpace’s platform and support propulsion-related architectural decisions.\nThere is also an opportunity for the right candidate to act as the lead coordinator for the Mechanical, Thermal, and Propulsion domains on the mission, ensuring coherent spacecraft design solutions.\nKey responsibilities\nOwn the spacecraft propulsion architecture throughout the mission lifecycle.\nLead the definition and justification of the spacecraft propulsion concept and design.\nDrive system-level propulsion trade-offs involving performance, reliability, operational concepts and mission constraints.\nEstablish and maintain propulsion budgets, margins and system allocations.\nDefine propulsion subsystem architectures, including fluid systems, pressurization systems and propulsion hardware.\nLead propulsion sizing analyses, performance assessments and system-level trade studies.\nDefine and manage propulsion requirements and interfaces across all spacecraft subsystems.\nCoordinate propulsion analyses required to justify the design and demonstrate compliance.\nDefine propulsion verification strategies and support qualification, acceptance and launch readiness activities.\nAssess technical impacts of changes, anomalies and non-conformances affecting the spacecraft propulsion architecture.\nSupport subsystem and system design reviews and provide technical leadership for propulsion-related design decisions.\nLead technical interactions with customers, suppliers, partners and institutional stakeholders.\nMentor engineers and contribute to the development of propulsion engineering standards and best practices.\nMust Have\n10+ years of experience in spacecraft propulsion engineering.\nProven experience in spacecraft propulsion architecture or equivalent senior technical leadership positions.\nStrong expertise in spacecraft propulsion systems, including chemical and/or electric propulsion technologies.\nExperience leading propulsion design trade-offs at spacecraft level.\nStrong understanding of fluid systems, propellant management, pressurization systems and propulsion hardware.\nExperience performing propulsion sizing analyses and architecture definition activities.\nExperience managing spacecraft propulsion requirements, interfaces and technical baselines.\nUnderstanding of subsystem interactions from a system-level perspective.\nFamiliarity with spacecraft integration, environmental testing and verification campaigns.\nAbility to lead multidisciplinary technical discussions and drive technical convergence.\nProven track record of successful delivery of complex spacecraft developments.\nExcellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.\nNice to have\nMSc or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.\nExperience with robotic spacecraft, active debris removal or servicing missions.\nExperience with cold-gas, monopropellant, bipropellant and electric propulsion systems.\nFamiliarity with ECSS standards and ESA programmes.\nExperience supporting launch campaigns and in-orbit commissioning activities.\nKnowledge of the thermal and structural impacts of propulsion integration.\nExperience working with international suppliers and industrial partners.\nStrong mentoring and technical leadership experience.\nAgile, flexible and able to work effectively within geographically distributed development teams.\nInformation about our data processing is set out in our candidate data privacy notice.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4379,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Space Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-21T19:59:35Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker;
