Our single, cloud-native, end-to-end capital markets platform powers investor growth today and is transforming how they can interact with markets tomorrow.\nFor more information, visit https://clearstreet.io.\nThe Role:\nWe are seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to join our Algorithmic Execution Services team, focusing on the design, development and maintenance of high-performance trading systems and their underlying algorithms.\nEnhance and develop: Responsible for improving existing core system components and support tools.\nFull-stack development: Design, develop, test, and deploy system enhancements.\nHigh-performance systems: Build highly available, horizontally scalable, mission-critical applications using modern technology.\nProblem-solving and collaboration: Hone advanced engineering skills by tackling challenges and working with stakeholders to define and deliver new features.\nDomain expertise: Develop a deep understanding of the business domain through this work.\nThe Team: \nThe Algorithmic Execution Services team builds Clear Street’s electronic trading platform, supporting best execution across asset classes and regions. We develop low-latency order routing, algorithmic strategies, smart order logic, and direct market access.\nOur focus is performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency-enabling faster execution, smarter routing, and real-time risk controls. Working at the intersection of trading and engineering, AES powers Clear Street’s most advanced trading workflows and sophisticated order handling with the flexibility to service both the active trader and institutional workflows.\nRequirements: \nIdeally 10+ years of experience in developing high-performance algorithmic financial applications.\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or a related STEM field.\nAdaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.\nAbility to effectively communicate technical information \nStrong computer programming skills using Java and Python in a Linux environment.\nStrong understanding of financial markets.\nRelevant experience using FIX and binary protocols communicating with counterparties.\nExperience with low latency, multi-threaded programming and distributed application architecture.\nStrong understanding of computer systems, including operating systems, networks, and performance optimization.\nExperience with modern software development practices and tools.\nStrong passion for technology and continuous learning.\nExperience with relational databases, preferably Oracle and Postgres.\nBonus:\nExperience with publish/subscribe multicast protocols.\nProficiency in optimizing critical code paths.\nExperience in unit test development.\nFamiliarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker.\nTech Stack: Our tech stack is primarily Java, Python and C++.\nWe Offer: \n The Base Salary Range is $200,000 - $250,000. These ranges are representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Which range a candidate fits into and where a candidate falls in the range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. These ranges represent Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation.
