You will work closely with founders and customers to prototype solutions, shape product direction, and deliver reliable systems that support financial operations.\nWhat You'll Do\nDesign, build, and operate production backend services and public APIs for clients and partners.\n\nBuild and maintain integrations with financial systems, banks, and other external data sources.\n\nDevelop ETL pipelines with data quality controls, validation, and reconciliation logic.\n\nEstablish observability and operational practices, including logging, metrics, alerts, incident response, and on-call readiness.\n\nCollaborate with founders and customers to identify problems, prototype quickly, measure impact, and decide what to build or discontinue.\n\nApply LLMs pragmatically in production when they can deliver measurable value, with appropriate guardrails.\n\nDocument architecture, testing standards, and security practices to improve engineering quality.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nAt least 5 years of backend engineering experience delivering and owning production systems end to end.\n\nStrong experience with OLTP systems, relational data modeling, REST APIs, and consistency and availability trade-offs.\n\nExperience integrating complex external APIs, including authentication, rate limits, retries, and webhooks. Financial or ERP integrations are a plus.\n\nComfort working with unstructured data such as PDFs, XML, and email, and extracting and normalizing information from it.\n\nPractical cloud and DevOps skills, including AWS or GCP, Docker, CI/CD, logging, and monitoring.\n\nExperience with ETL and data quality controls; familiarity with ledgers, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and reconciliation is beneficial.\n\nFamiliarity with event-driven systems such as Kafka or SQS, workflow engines such as Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect, and production LLM deployments is useful.\n\nComfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, customer collaboration, and documenting technical decisions. Fintech or B2B SaaS experience and prior founding-engineer experience are beneficial.\n\nCompensation & Benefits\nSalary range: $45,000 to $80,000 USD annually.
