Cleveland Clinic’s M80 Neuro Transitional Care Unit is a highly specialized and diverse unit that provides treatment for neurological med/surg patientsneedingboth stepdown and intermediate levels of care. This unit commonly performs complex neurological procedures, including intracranial pressure monitoring, seizure monitoring, lumbarpuncturesand central/arterial line placements.

A caregiver in this positionworksday7:00am-7:30pm e very other weekend, every other holiday.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight,assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesand removing urinary Foley catheter.

  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.

  • Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within new hire period (Nursing students required to have BLS prior to hire)

  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

  • Additionaleducation/training may substitute for some/all ofthe stated experience (i.e.mental health experience)

  • Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
