The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it not only an excellent medical facility, but also a home away from home.\nWhen we do everything in service for our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored, and Martin North Hospital understands that part of staying well is keeping up with nutritional needs. As a Cook, you will cook and prepare a variety of food for patients, caregivers, special events and visitors, ensuring patients receive their meals in a timely manner and care is taken regarding dietary restrictions and food safety. This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a passion for customer service and cooking. It can also be a steppingstone to other roles such as becoming a leader.\nA caregiver in this position works 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday and with rotating weekends and holidays, between 5:00AM - 7:00PM. Schedules are provided at least two weeks in advance.\nA caregiver who excels in this role will:\nReview menus and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be obtained and prepared. \nFollow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods. \nPlan cooking schedules with a supervisor and/or dietitian. \nEnsure that all foods are prepared to meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance. \nConfer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers. \nAdhere to HACCP guidelines in food storage, food handling, food preparation, sanitation and maintenance of work area. \nEnsure that all cooking equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper orientation. \nDetect and report spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies and equipment and other unusual conditions. \nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:\nSufficient previous experience in large scale food preparation \nKnowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including types of preparation and related routines \nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:\nHigh School Diploma or GED \nTwo years of related experience \nTraining in institutional food preparation \nPrior restaurant kitchen experience \nFood service certification(s) \nPhysical Requirements:\nRegularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects for tools, reach with hands and arms, stoop and lift or move objects up to 75 pounds.\nPosition requires normal or corrected vision.\nPersonal Protective Equipment:\nFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.\nThe policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
