Cleveland Clinic’s M60 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is a 15-bed, Level 4 unit that provides expert care to adult patients with suspected or confirmed seizure disorders. Caregivers in this unit are deeply passionate about caring for both the physical and mental aspects of epilepsy, as many patients experience high levelsof anxiety due to the uncertainty of the diagnosis process. M60 caregivers have said that caring for the whole person brings meaning and purpose to their day and enjoythe comfortable pace of this collaborative and supportive unit.
A caregiver in this position worksfull-time, nights, 7:00pm-7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assistwith processing patient admissions, transfersand discharges.
Assistpatients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintainpatient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assistwith unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWsand other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer trainingor equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree
MicrosoftOffice experience
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
