As an HR Generalist II, you will play a critical role in supporting employees and leaders through complex employee relations matters, strategic HR initiatives and day-to-day HR operations. In this role, you will support the Director, HR Services in developing and implementing human resources strategies and addressing workforce needs for the Institute, Division or Hospital. You will provide counsel and direction to management across all aspects of human resources for assigned client departments, including employee relations, compensation, performance management and development, team effectiveness and employee engagement. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, providing guidance aligned with organizational values, policies and culture while delivering hands-on HR support with a strong emphasis on employee relations and frontline leader support. This role requires someone who can operate independently, think creatively and collaborate across teams to drive positive employee experiences.

A caregiver in this role works part-time days from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This position is based at Marymount Hospital, with periodic visits to our ASC.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Serve as a confidential advisor on employee relations, performance management, corrective and disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, Right of Review and investigations.

  • Interpret and apply HR policies and programs across all levels of caregivers.

  • Conduct employee investigations and facilitate the Right of Review process.

  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), including Talent, Compensation and Legal, to support caregiver and organizational needs.

  • Counsel client groups and facilitate conflict resolution.

  • Analyze HR and business metrics and provide recommendations to leadership.

  • Support communication and implementation of HR COE programs across the organization.

  • Support workforce planning activities, including promotions, equity reviews and job reclassifications, and provide recommendations to leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS and ODH.

  • Support regulatory practices to promote fair and equitable treatment of caregivers.

  • Determine development needs for specific segments of the organization and provide developmental training as appropriate.

  • Monitor compliance with organizational initiatives, including compliance training, flu vaccination and engagement.

  • Participate in leadership councils and committees as appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related fieldand five years of progressive HR experience

  • OR Associate’s Degreeand five years of progressive Human Resources experience and an additional two years of related experience, including project management experience

  • OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of progressive Human Resources experience and an additional four years of related experience, including project management experience

  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws (EEO, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, NLRA, etc.)

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and group facilitation and presentation skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Human Resources certification (Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)

  • Prior healthcare experience

  • Exposure to HR strategy, change initiatives, or process improvement

  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations

  • Proficiency and experience in HR FMLA and employee relations

  • Experience supporting frontline managers and leaders

  • Strong policy interpretation and compliance judgment

  • Responsive, customer-oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication skills with a transparent, approachable and trusted advisor style

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system and, in some locations, off-site.

  • Ability to operate computer and other office equipment.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
