The lab uses specialized proteomics, metabolomics and protein sensors to understand the mechanisms that allow tumors to grow after treatment and evade immune detection, with the goal of identifying metabolic pathways that can be targeted to develop more effective treatments. The Tiek Lab has ongoing research projects in both adult and pediatric gliomas and seeks creative, collaborative thinkers who are passionate about advancing treatments for these diseases. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for assigned experimental studies, assist with establishing and scheduling analyses, conduct tests using a range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assemble experimental results for review by research staff.\nLearn more about the Tiek Lab: https://www.lerner.ccf.org/cancer-sciences/tiek/\n A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (flexible start/end times)\nA caregiver who excels in this role will:\nPerform laboratory techniques procedures required for experimental studies.\n\nPerform technical lab duties as delegated by the Research Staff Supervisor related to the assigned project.\n\nSchedule and perform the various analyses needed to complete the project.\n\nAssist with establishing and scheduling of various procedures and analysis.\n\nPrepare reagents and purify chemicals using chromatography, distillation, etc.\n\nIdentify, separate and quantify various substances.\n\nConduct tests and procedures utilizing various laboratory equipment and instrumentation.\n\nAccumulate data from analyses, prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables for presentation to Research Staff Supervisor for final analysis and preparation for publication, grant proposals and applications for research funds.\n\nPotentially order laboratory supplies and equipment.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:\nHigh School Diplomaand two years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment\n\nOR Associate’s degree in laboratory science fieldand one year of experience in a research or related laboratory environment\n\nOR Bachelor's degree\n\nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:\nPrior research experience\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods\n\nAbility to operate a computer and other office equipment\n\nAbility to communicate and exchange accurate information\n\nAbility to distinguish color\n\nManual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment\n\nAbility to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds\n\nMay be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.\n\nPersonal Protective Equipment:\nFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.\n\nThe policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
