You'll move fast, ship UI-heavy features, and serve as a mobile technical authority on the team. This role spans our platform - identity, protection and monitoring, and the products we're building on top of them - so you'll have unusual breadth for a single engineer and real influence over how we build on mobile at scale.\nWhat will you do?\nDesign, architect, and build privacy-first mobile applications\n\nBuild and iterate rapidly on product surfaces across the Cloaked suite to support experimentation and product-market fit\n\nProvide senior technical leadership on application architecture, code quality, and engineering best practices\n\nHelp the team ship features faster and with fewer bugs by raising the overall engineering bar\n\nCollaborate with design, backend, and product teams to define, design, and ship new features\n\nImplement new functionality and APIs, including REST and GraphQL integrations\n\nBuild and maintain performant, declarative UIs using SwiftUI\n\nApply Swift structured concurrency to write readable, maintainable business logic\n\nIntegrate offline-first data storage solutions such as Core Data\n\nDevelop and maintain iOS extensions and Safari extensions\n\nTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application issues across platforms\n\nWrite clean, maintainable, and scalable code following best practices and architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture)\n\nConduct unit testing, including BDD/TDD, covering edge cases and ensuring overall application reliability\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions\n\nActively leverage AI tools in day-to-day engineering work\n\nOwn mobile domain expertise in the areas you go deep on, and share it across teams\n\nWhat skills and experiences will help you?\nProficiency in Swift\n\nHands-on experience with SwiftUI, Combine, and structured concurrency\n\nDeep knowledge of mobile databases: Core Data, Realm, SQL\n\nStrong understanding of backend API integration (RESTful)\n\nFamiliarity with iOS architecture patterns (MVVM, state observation, data flow)\n\nExperience with iOS Extension and Safari Extension development\n\nSolid understanding of cryptographic principles: symmetric and asymmetric encryption\n\nExperience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development practices\n\nTrack record shipping B2C consumer products at scale\n\nActive daily use of AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, Codex) with strong prompt judgment and tool selection instincts\n\nWhat's nice to have?\nExperience with client-side payment systems\n\nPII handling and sensitive data awareness\n\nPrior exposure to mobile fintech and privacy/security-focused applications\n\nFamiliarity with Python, JavaScript, and GraphQL\n\nWhat do we like?\nPassion for security, privacy, and internet ethics\n\nCuriosity and constant learning in leading-edge mobile technologies\n\nStrong analytical thinking with proactive problem-solving abilities\n\nOwnership mentality\n\nEffective team player in high-velocity environments\n\nComfortable mentoring and knowledge sharing across teams\n\nExperience in startups or growth-stage companies\n\nInterest in data tracking, analytics, and product instrumentation\n\nWhat we offer\nCloaked is a well-funded Series B startup based out of NYC.\nAlthough we are a distributed team, the NYC team operates with a hybrid model.
