You'll manually test new features, build and maintain automated test suites for existing features, collaborate with the QA team to develop new test strategy, and work independently across frameworks, CI/CD, and coverage gaps - hands-on every day, owning quality signal rather than just test execution.\nWhat will you do?\nOwn quality across Cloaked's web, mobile, and API surfaces - coverage, strategy, and signal\n\nWork within a variety of feature teams to ensure output is being delivered at a high quality, without sacrificing team velocity.\n\nDesign test plans for new features, including hands-on exploratory testing where that's the sharper tool\n\nBuild and improve test automation frameworks and utilities alongside other QA Engineers and the QA Manager\n\nIntegrate and maintain automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery\n\nAnalyze test results, identify flaky tests, and improve overall suite reliability - while staying truthful about what the results actually say\n\nUse AI-assisted workflows to move faster on test generation, coverage analysis, and maintenance, and help the team figure out what's worth automating that way\n\nCollaborate with developers and product managers to understand features and how best to test them\n\nContribute to test plans and living QA/Product documentation\n\nParticipate in code reviews for test automation code and provide constructive feedback\n\nFlag gaps in coverage and propose solutions to improve quality signal\n\nWhat skills and experiences will help you?\n7+ years in QA or QA automation, with hands-on work building and maintaining manual and automated test suites\n\nSolid testing fundamentals: test design, test planning, defect management\n\nExperience testing across web, mobile and API\n\nDemonstrated use of AI to leverage your own workflow - generating and maintaining tests, writing docs, cutting down repetitive manual work. Cursor and Claude are examples of what that looks like here, not a checklist; we care how you work, not which product you've used\n\nProficiency with Playwright, Selenium, and Appium\n\nStrong scripting/programming skills in languages commonly used in test automation (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java)\n\nAbility to write clean, well-structured, maintainable test code\n\nWhat's nice to have?\nFamiliarity with Datadog, PostHog, Jira, and Google Workspace\n\nExperience working with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into them (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI)\n\nHands-on API testing experience (Postman or equivalent)\n\nExposure to security, privacy, or identity products\n\nFamiliarity with performance or load testing tools (k6, Locust, JMeter)\n\nExperience with visual regression testing\n\nExperience testing with device farms, local or remote via services like SauceLabs or LambdaTest\n\nBackground working in a startup or high-growth environment\n\nExperience setting test strategy or mentoring other QA engineers\n\nWhat do we like?\nSelf-starters who take ownership and proactively look for ways to improve things\n\nStrong communication skills, ability to manage expectations upwards and across teams as needed.\n\nComfort with chaos - priorities shift, context is incomplete, and you move anyway to find the correct solution.\n\nA pragmatic bias toward shipping and iterating over perfecting in isolation\n\nA bias toward objective truth in your automation results, not just \"running green\"\n\nCuriosity about how things work under the hood and a desire to understand the product deeply\n\nA willingness to go down the rabbit hole on new tooling - AI is changing how QA works and we'd rather hire someone chasing that than someone waiting for it to settle\n\nCollaborative mindset - you see QA as a partner to engineering, not a bottleneck\n\nGenuine care about quality as a product differentiator\n\nWhat we offer\nCloaked is a well-funded Series B startup based out of NYC.\nAlthough we are a distributed team, the NYC team operates with a hybrid model.
