This role is responsible for the overall financial operations, reporting, controls, planning, and continuous improvement of the finance function, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial information.\nThe Director, Finance will provide strong technical and operational finance leadership, translating financial data into meaningful business insights and recommendations. This is an ideal role for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, is comfortable owning the finance function day-to-day, and takes pride in building scalable, reliable, and efficient financial processes.\nThe role will work closely with the CFO and cross-functional leadership to support business planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial decision-making, and long-term organizational growth.\nThis is an active leadership role, with a preference for onsite work in Richmond Hill, ON, though remote candidates based in Canada may also be considered.\nKey Responsibilities:\nFinancial Leadership, Operations & Reporting\nLead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function, ensuring financial processes, controls, and reporting are accurate, timely, and effective.\nOwn the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting.\nPrepare and review management accounts, financial statements, variance analyses, and financial reports for the CFO and senior leadership.\nMaintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts within Sage Intacct.\nOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and other core accounting operations.\nManage payroll processing coordination and ensure compliance with payroll obligations.\nEnsure compliance with all relevant tax filings, regulatory requirements, and statutory deadlines.\nEstablish and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.\nMonitor financial performance and proactively identify risks, trends, and opportunities that may impact the business.\nFinancial Planning, Analysis & Business Partnership\nAct as a strategic finance partner and trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team, translating financial information into clear business insights and recommendations.\nLead and support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, working with business leaders to develop realistic assumptions and financial targets.\nPrepare financial models, analysis, and business cases to support strategic and operational decision-making.\nProvide regular analysis of actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities.\nDevelop and monitor key financial and operational metrics to provide leadership with greater visibility into business performance.\nPrepare materials, reporting packages, and briefings for the CFO and senior leadership team.\nFlag financial risks, discrepancies, and emerging issues proactively, providing clear context, recommendations, and potential solutions.\nPartner with cross-functional teams to improve financial understanding, accountability, and decision-making across the organization.\nTeam Leadership & Development\nDirectly manage, mentor, and develop the junior team member, providing leadership, coaching, and day-to-day guidance.\nReview financial work and reporting for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established processes.\nServe as the primary escalation point for complex accounting, reporting, and financial matters.\nDevelop the capabilities of the finance team through coaching, knowledge sharing, process documentation, and ongoing development.\nBuild and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key finance processes.\nSystems, Controls & Process Improvement\nServe as the finance business owner and primary power user of Sage Intacct.\nCollaborate with the Technology team to implement system enhancements across Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and other systems supporting Finance workflows.\nEvaluate opportunities for automation and integration to reduce manual processes and improve the quality and availability of financial data.\nEnsure financial controls are established, documented, and consistently followed.\nLiaise with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and other financial advisors as required.\nSupport audits, tax reviews, and other external financial or regulatory requirements.\nWhat we are looking for:\nRequired Qualifications\n7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including experience in a senior finance leadership or management role.\nStrong technical accounting knowledge, with a solid understanding of financial reporting, controls, budgeting, and forecasting.\nHands-on experience with Sage Intacct or a similar ERP, including financial reporting and system administration.\nProven experience leading, mentoring, and developing finance team members.\nDemonstrated ability to partner with the CFO, senior leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to support business decisions.\nStrong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to turn financial data into clear, actionable business insights.\nExceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and operate effectively at both a strategic and operational level.\nNice to Have\nExperience working in a mid-sized or growing organization with broad finance responsibilities.\nCPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation.\nExperience optimizing Sage Intacct workflows, reporting, integrations, or financial processes.\nExperience with financial systems integration, automation, or process transformation.\nBackground in the Technology or Professional Services industry.\nExperience building and scaling finance processes to support organizational
