Technical and Database Assessment\nAssess database platforms, schemas, data flows, data lineage, connectivity, and downstream dependencies.\nReview where licensed data is stored, transformed, replicated, extracted, cached, archived, and backed up.\nEvaluate existing database security capabilities and identify gaps, risks, and technical constraints.\n2. Authentication and Identity Integration\nDesign secure authentication for users, applications, service identities, and workloads.\nImplement or evaluate OAuth 2.0, OIDC, token-based authentication, and enterprise IAM integration.\nIntegrate enterprise identities, security groups, database roles, and policy engines.\nReduce dependency on shared and long-lived credentials.\n3. Fine-Grained Authorization and Data Security\nDesign and implement database-level access controls.\nImplement Row-Level Security (RLS), Column-Level Security (CLS), dynamic data masking, and policy-based filtering.\nDesign secure isolation patterns for licensed datasets.\nEnsure security policies are enforced at the database layer.\n4. Auditing, Monitoring, and Traceability\nDesign database auditing and activity monitoring.\nTrack user access, queries, exports, permission changes, and privileged activities.\nIntegrate audit logs with centralized monitoring and reporting systems.\nDefine audit retention and investigation requirements.\n5. Data Lifecycle and Deletion\nDesign access revocation mechanisms for users, projects, and expired licensing agreements.\nDefine secure data deletion processes across databases, backups, archives, caches, and downstream systems.\nEnsure deletion activities are validated and supported by audit evidence.\n6. Solution Architecture and Engineering\nDevelop current-state and target-state security architectures.\nPrepare technical specifications, implementation plans, and reusable security patterns.\nEvaluate solution options based on security, scalability, performance, feasibility, and cost.\nCollaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams.\n7. POC Design and Execution\nDesign and execute Proof of Concepts (POCs) for database security scenarios.\nValidate authentication, authorization, data isolation, auditing, access revocation, and deletion.\nDocument test results, technical limitations, recommendations, and implementation approaches.\nRequired Technical Skills\n10+ years of experience in database engineering, data security, solution architecture, or related fields.\nStrong hands-on experience with relational databases, SQL, database architecture, schemas, roles, and privileges.\nExperience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS), Column-Level Security (CLS), dynamic masking, and fine-grained authorization.\nStrong understanding of IAM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, token-based authentication, service identities, and workload identities.\nExperience with secrets management and secure database connectivity.\nKnowledge of database auditing, query monitoring, centralized logging, alerting, and security investigations.\nExperience securing integrations involving applications, APIs, analytical tools, and ETL/ELT pipelines.\nUnderstanding of data lineage, retention, lifecycle management, revocation, deletion, backup, and recovery.\nAbility to assess heterogeneous database platforms and recommend suitable security architectures.\nStrong architecture, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.\nNice to Have\nExperience with enterprise data platforms and cloud or hybrid database environments.\nKnowledge of data catalogs, access governance, and policy-enforcement technologies.\nExperience in pharmaceutical research, healthcare, scientific data, or intellectual property protection.\nExposure to data licensing, contractual-use restrictions, and regulated environments.\nExperience designing and executing security POCs and implementing production-ready solutions.\nExpected Deliverables\nDatabase security and capability
