We work across cloud, infrastructure, workplace, security, managed services and enterprise legacy systems.\n\nWe are looking for a Senior RPG Developer for IBM iSeries / AS400 to support one of our international customers in the manufacturing and distribution sector.\n\nThe role focuses on development, maintenance, modernization and troubleshooting of business-critical applications running on IBM iSeries / AS400. You will work with existing RPG-based systems, support integrations, analyze incidents and help improve the stability and maintainability of the application landscape.\n\nJob description:\n\nAs a Senior RPG Developer for IBM iSeries / AS400, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining applications running on IBM iSeries. You will support both operational and project-based activities, including bug fixing, small enhancements, application analysis, technical documentation, integration topics and modernization initiatives.\n\nThis is a senior role for a person who understands legacy enterprise systems, can work independently and is comfortable communicating with technical and business stakeholders.\n\nAt cloudatus, you will: \n\nAnalyse IBM iSeries applications, databases, interfaces, and dependencies\n\nDevelop and maintain solutions using RPG IV, RPGLE, ILE RPG, Free-Format RPG, and CLLE\n\nDesign and optimise Db2 for i database structures and SQL queries\n\nDiagnose complex application, database, integration, and system issues\n\nAnalyse job logs, batch processes, queues, and performance bottlenecks\n\nPlan, test, implement, and document production changes\n\nBuild and maintain integrations using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, ODBC, JDBC, and file transfers\n\nSupport integrations with ERP, CRM, finance, manufacturing, logistics, and sales systems\n\nParticipate in automation, migration, and application modernisation projects\n\nCooperate with customers, external vendors, and internal technical teams\n\nProvide advanced third-line support for critical incidents\n\nRequired technical and professional expertise: \n\nStrong commercial experience with IBM iSeries / AS400 environments.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with RPG / RPGLE / ILE RPG.\n\nPractical knowledge of CL / CLLE.\n\nGood knowledge of Db2 for i and SQL.\n\nExperience with 5250-based applications and IBM i system commands.\n\nAbility to analyze application logic, job logs, system messages and data issues.\n\nExperience with file-based integrations, e.g. IFS, SFTP/FTP, CSV, XML.\n\nUnderstanding of enterprise application support and production troubleshooting.\n\nAbility to read, understand and safely modify legacy code.\n\nEnglish at minimum B2 level.\n\nNice to have:\n\nExperience with free-format RPG or SQLRPG.\n\nExperience with REST APIs, JSON, XML or middleware integrations.\n\nKnowledge of RDi, VS Code / Code for IBM i or similar modern development tools.\n\nExperience with ODBC/JDBC integrations.\n\nKnowledge of DDS, Query/400 or legacy green-screen applications.\n\nExperience in manufacturing, logistics, ERP, warehouse or SAP-integrated environments.\n\nGerman language skills.\n\nNon-technical requirements:\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to work independently in a remote support model.\n\nOwnership mindset and responsibility for delivered changes.\n\nGood communication skills with both technical teams and business users.\n\nAbility to explain technical issues in a clear and structured way.\n\nAttention to detail, especially when working with business-critical systems.\n\nReadiness to work with legacy systems while supporting their gradual modernization.\n\nCustomer-oriented approach and ability to work in an international environment.\n\nBenefits: \nB2B or employment contract \n\nWorking with latest technologies \n\nIndustry leading healthcare and comprehensive medical coverage (Luxmed, Multisport) \n\nOpportunities to enhance your qualifications (MS certifications, Udemy courses, etc.) \n\nCustomizable 1-on-1 English or German lessons \n\nModern computer equipment \n\nOpportunities to network and connect (get-togethers, team-building events) \n\nEmployee referral programme \n\nFlexible working schedule \n\n Location:\n100% remote,\n\noccasional travel to customers around Europe.\n\nTake your expertise to new heights with cloudatus.
