A working understanding of a range of oceanographic instrumentation would be an advantage.\nWorking Environment\nThe work is performed primarily in an office and warehouse environment and involves use of computers and other office equipment. Normal working hours (8 hours/week) are scheduled during the office hours of 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday.\nIn addition, this position will require travel to remote work sites and field work from vessels and platforms. The Oceanographic Technician will be called upon to work outside of established hours in order to satisfy particular job requirements, for travel, and to support customers in a range of time zones.\nPhysical Demands\nThe field work may occasionally be physically demanding. It is a requirement of this position that the candidate maintain a valid Offshore Medical Certificate and undergo Offshore Survival Training, the cost of which will be for the company’s account.\nThe ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:\nIndependent, goal-oriented self-starter with focus on detail\nPassion for the marine environment\nFamiliar with a variety of oceanographic and meteorological instrumentation\nProficiency with Microsoft software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc).\nOther characteristics:\nAbility to understand, react, and adapt to various technical requirements\nFocused on safety\nTechnical writing capability\nSound judgment; ability to multi-task; decision maker; proactivity; dynamism\nTravel\nThe job will require local, national, possibly international travel and occasionally involving weekends.
