This is an entry-level opportunity to learn how to build, operate, and scale the systems behind CME’s Customer and Clearing platform. Our systems deliver an exceptional combination of low-latency performance and rock-solid reliability, and this role offers a unique chance to learn from the ground up.\nThe successful candidate will be mentored by senior engineers and will be trained on how we observe, monitor, automate, and improve Production service reliability in a supportive team environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLearn from and work alongside senior engineers to assist with building out observability, monitoring, and alerting for key services.\nShadow senior engineers as they partner with product teams to understand the reliability and scalability needs for new features.\nWrite and maintain basic scripts and tools to help reduce toil and improve engineering velocity.\nContribute to and learn from our culture of blameless post-mortem to drive continuous improvement.\nAssist with DR (Disaster Recovery) and systems resiliency testing.\nSupport the migration of Customer and Clearing applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\nAfter a period of training and mentorship, begin to shadow and then participate in the on-call rotation with direct support from senior engineers.\nWhat We’re Looking for:\nA passion for technology and a strong desire to build a career in Site Reliability Engineering.\nFoundational programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Bash) demonstrated through coursework, personal projects, or internships.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a curious mindset.\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills.\nA profound eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced CME environment.\nDesirable (Nice to have, not required):\nFamiliarity with cloud concepts (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).\nGood knowledge of Linux-based systems\nBasic understanding of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.\nAn interest in metrics & monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.\nFoundational knowledge of networking concepts (HTTP, TCP/IP).\nAn interest in financial technology and high-performance systems.\nCME Group: Where Futures are Made\nCME Group is the world’s leading derivatives marketplace.
