This position oversees all phases of the design process, ensuring technical excellence, quality, adherence to schedule, and compliance with applicable client, Federal, DoD, UFC, UFGS, and industry standards.\nThe Design Engineering Manager serves as the primary technical lead for assigned projects, coordinating internal engineering disciplines, architectural and engineering consultants, and project stakeholders throughout planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. This role works closely with the Proposal, Estimating, Project Controls, and Operations teams to develop technical solutions, support Design-Build pursuits, manage design risks, and ensure successful project delivery.\nEssential Responsibilities\nParticipate in site visits as requested. \nServe as the Design Manager for Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build projects. \nDevelop, monitor, and manage project design schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables. \nCoordinate and supervise outside architectural, engineering, and specialty consultants. \nEnsure design documents comply with applicable Federal, DoD, UFC, UFGS, IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, and other governing codes and standards. \nProvide technical leadership and engineering oversight for civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty design disciplines. \nReview engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, and design analyses for completeness, quality, constructability, and compliance. \nLead interdisciplinary design coordination meetings and resolve technical conflicts between disciplines. \nParticipate in site investigations, field assessments, and design verification activities as required. \nSupport proposal development by preparing technical narratives, design concepts, basis of design documents, and engineering approaches. \nAssist the Estimating team with conceptual designs, quantity development, cost estimates, and project execution planning. \nSupport Operations with subcontractor scopes of work, technical evaluations, Requests for Information (RFIs), and engineering issue resolution during construction. \nPerform constructability reviews and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, quality, and cost. \nIdentify and mitigate design risks while ensuring client requirements and project objectives are achieved. \nDevelop and maintain project design documentation, reports, and technical deliverables. \nMentor engineering staff and provide technical guidance to improve engineering capabilities throughout the organization. \nSupport Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes and participate in internal and external design reviews. \nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nRequired Skills\nStrong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams. \nExcellent knowledge of engineering design principles and construction practices. \nExperience managing Design-Build project delivery. \nStrong understanding of Federal, DoD, USACE, NAVFAC, and AFCEC design requirements. \nKnowledge of UFC, UFGS, IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, and applicable engineering standards. \nAbility to review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports. \nExperience coordinating multiple engineering disciplines throughout project development. \nStrong project management, planning, scheduling, and organizational skills. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills. \nStrong client relationship and stakeholder management abilities. \nExperience in preparing technical proposals and engineering narratives. \nAbility to resolve complex technical and constructability issues. \nProficiency with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD. Experience with BIM/Revit is preferred. \nSelf-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.\nExperience with Design-Build, civil, and multidisciplinary projects\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in civil/construction/ Engineering with 10 or more years of related experience\nMinimum 3-5 years leading multidisciplinary engineering or design teams.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering preferred.\nReporting Structure\nReports to the Engineering Manager\nThis position might have direct reports \nResponsible for direct reports, their performance, safety, and work-related welfare and behavior.\nTravel\n0-15% travel required. \nThis position will require occasional local, regional, and interstate travel to client offices, project sites, and other locations as assigned. Some projects may require international travel.\nTravel frequency is subject to change based on project volume and scope. \nPhysical Requirements\nThis position required Team Members to work in the Field and office setting. When working in the field Team Members will work around moving heavy machinery, equipment, and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and cold. The noise level may be loud at times due to machinery and equipment. Must be able to move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. using abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support repetitively for 10 to 20\nminute intervals without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs for the duration of shift. When in the office, Team Members can anticipate Sedentary work in a climate-controlled environment with moderate noise levels. Most duties performed require the use of a computer, phone, and in person, or virtual meetings. Maintain a stationary position for prolonged periods during the shift. Constant operation of computer and other office equipment such as copy machine, phone, and printer.
