By analyzing alert thresholds, wayside detector readings, failure trends, and other metrics, the role improves the reliability of locomotives and rolling stock. The position contributes to the Mechanical Reliability team, which includes Car and Locomotive, Locomotive Subject Matter Expert (SME), Fleet leaders, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Wayside Detector and Machine Vision teams, and Senior Mechanical Leaders.\nMain Responsibilities\nData Management\nDesign, develop, and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to gather data from various sources, including databases, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and flat files\nLoad transformed data into data warehouses, data lakes, or other storage solutions to ensure accessibility and usability\nApply data cleaning, transformation, and enrichment techniques to prepare data for analysis and reporting\nDrive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data resources\nValidate existing data sources by performing quality and audit checks\nCollaborate with internal and external teams to identify improvement opportunities\nAnalysis and Reporting\nIdentify trends, performance, safety, and productivity opportunities by applying data science techniques\nDevelop, maintain, and analyze performance metrics and reports that support data-driven decision-making processes\nSet alert thresholds by defect and fleet\nAnalyze and interpret the results from analytical tools and explain the meaning to the appropriate management levels\nDevelop best practices for instrumentation and experimentation\nCommunicate and present findings to teams and management at all levels\nWorking Conditions\nThe role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday.
