This individual will have leadership responsibility for a portion of the Aging Services Retail East Team and will work in close partnership with the Aging Services AVP to co-lead the team. Together, they will drive business results, team development, and strategic growth through retail agency and broker distribution partners.JOB DESCRIPTION:\nPerforms a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:\nShares leadership responsibility for the Aging Services Retail East Team, with direct oversight of a portion of the team’s underwriters.\nCollaborates with the Aging Services AVP to co-lead the team, ensuring alignment with CNA’s strategic direction and business goals.\nCoaches, mentors, and develops underwriters and contributes to the design and delivery of underwriting training and development programs.\nDrives profitable growth through retail agency and broker distribution partners and key relationship management across the East region.\nParticipates in the development and execution of underwriting policy, marketing initiatives, and business strategy.\nDevelops and implements operating plans to enhance business performance and meet strategic objectives.\nExecutes portfolio management strategies to achieve growth and profitability targets.\nRepresents the Aging Services Retail team at industry conferences and events and remains current on regulatory, market, and competitive trends affecting the East region.\nCollaborates with senior management on complex underwriting risks, applying advanced analysis to assess risk acceptability.\nDetermines appropriate pricing for complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis and in compliance with regulatory requirements.\nActs as a change agent for the Aging Services Retail team and the CNA enterprise, supporting the adoption of new technologies and strategic initiatives.\nExemplifies excellence in underwriting, leadership, distribution, documentation, and team development.\nMay perform additional duties as assigned.\nReporting Relationship\nAVP, Underwriting or above\nSkills, Knowledge & Abilities\nAbility to effectively lead, coach, and develop an underwriting group.\nExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.\nSenior-level technical and business management acumen, underwriting skill, and knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams.\nAbility to navigate ambiguous situations and issues.\nCreativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.\nAbility to achieve results by taking a proactive, long-term view of business goals and objectives.\nKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.\nEducation & Experience\nMBA or its equivalent in experience. Professional designations preferred.\nTypically a minimum of ten years of underwriting experience with a proven track record of results.\nIn certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois,Maryland, Massachusetts,New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is$97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
