These roles will lead compliance, risk and assurance activity across our trading and non-trading property estate, helping us meet our legal and regulatory responsibilities while continuously improving how we manage compliance across Co-op.\nWe're recruiting for two specialist areas: one role with a focus on Asbestos Management and one with a focus on Fire Safety & Protection. While each role will provide expertise in its specialist discipline, both will support and influence compliance activity across a broader range of technical compliance areas.\nWhy this role matters\nProperty compliance plays a critical role in protecting our colleagues, customers, members and business. These are influential roles where you'll help shape compliance strategy, provide expert guidance, and work with senior stakeholders to strengthen standards across one of the UK's largest and most diverse property portfolios. It's an opportunity to drive meaningful change, influence important decisions, and help build a culture that goes beyond simply meeting compliance requirements.\nWhat you’ll do\nLead the development and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks, policies, standards and controls across the property estate\nAct as the subject matter expert for either asbestos management or fire safety and protection, providing specialist advice and assurance\nDeliver compliance audits, assurance activities and controls testing, ensuring risks are identified and effectively managed\nWork with colleagues and suppliers to monitor compliance performance and drive continuous improvement\nProvide oversight and assurance of compliance reporting, helping ensure data is accurate, reliable and supports decision-making\nMonitor changes in legislation and emerging risks, ensuring appropriate controls and actions are implemented\nChair governance forums and provide constructive challenge to stakeholders where standards or legal requirements are not being met\nLead, coach and develop colleagues while building strong relationships across Property, Facilities Management, Engineering and wider business teams\nWhat you’ll bring\nWe’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:\nA recognised qualification in either asbestos management (BOHS P405 or equivalent) or fire safety (NEBOSH Fire, IFE, IFSM or equivalent)\nNEBOSH Certificate and either working towards a NEBOSH Diploma or already holding the qualification\nExperience leading compliance, risk or assurance programmes within a property, facilities, engineering or similar environment\nStrong knowledge of health, safety and compliance management systems, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders\nProven experience developing and improving compliance frameworks, controls and assurance processes\nExperience using CAFM and other compliance management systems to manage information, monitor performance and support effective decision-making\nCommercially aware with a pragmatic approach to risk management and continuous improvement\nWhy Co-op?\nAt Co-op, we’re owned by our members.
