You will perform statistical analysis to provide data-driven insights. You will help us understand and improve our cyber risk selection and reduction, pricing and automation in order to grow our revenue in a safe and efficient manner. \nResponsibilities\nAnalyze diverse datasets including claims data, cybersecurity risk signals, and underwriting databases to extract meaningful patterns and insights\nLarge scale data analysis with the objective of producing valuable risk signals to be used for underwriting or risk evaluation of organizations\nDevelop and refine statistical and machine learning models to assess cybersecurity risks with applications to underwriting and pricing.\nCreate comprehensive reports on underwriting efficiency metrics and risk selection quality to inform strategic decisions\nApply statistical techniques to evaluate and improve our cyber risk assessment methodology\nProvide analytical support for underwriting strategies to balance growth with risk management\nIdentify, analyze, and implement opportunities to automate underwriting workflows using advanced analytics and data-driven strategies\nCollaborate cross-functionally with actuarial, product, and engineering teams to implement data-driven improvements. Lead cross-functional initiatives in area of expertise.\nServe as both a technical lead and a mentor within the underwriting team.\nWork alongside other data scientists, software engineers, and cyber security engineers to improve underwriting at Coalition. Intellectual curiosity and proactive approach to identifying improvement opportunities\nSkills and Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or related discipline)\n5+ years of experience in underwriting, quantitative analysis, or risk modeling in the insurance industry\nKnowledge of underwriting, pricing, reserving, or risk management processes in insurance\nAdvanced SQL skills for querying complex databases and joining disparate data sources\nExpertise in data manipulation and analysis using Python, R, or similar analytical tools\nExperience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) \nExperience with dashboard creation for operational metrics tracking\nStrong communication and analytical skills\nCapable of working with remote teams\nNice-to-have Skills\nActuarial qualification\nExperience in cyber insurance or cyber security.\nPrior experience or willingness to learn how to work with large datasets and big data technologies (Snowflake, AWS Athena)\nCompensation\nAs a remote-first organization, our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several Canadian geographic markets. \nIn Alberta, British Columbia & Ontario the base salary for this position ranges from $137,000/year up to $187,000/year. \nFor all other locations, the base salary for this position ranges from $123,600/year up to $154,440/year. \nConsistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
