Always ready, always on!\nAbout the role\nBased in Victoria, Canada, the Network Engineer will join our Group Systems team and report to the IT Lead Americas. The role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery, security, availability and performance of Codan’s network infrastructure.\nYou will provide technical guidance on network architecture, support technology improvement projects and work closely with teams across the business, including overseas offices. You will also liaise with external hardware, software and service providers to maintain reliable connectivity and deliver new IT solutions.\nKey responsibilities\nMaintain the availability and performance of network devices and services, including routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, VPN gateways and firewalls.\nMonitor network performance, proactively identify bottlenecks and resolve incidents within agreed SLA timeframes.\nConfigure, test, install, troubleshoot and maintain network hardware, software and communications equipment.\nApply and validate network security controls, including firmware updates, vulnerability remediation and access-control changes.\nDeliver planned network changes, upgrades and configuration updates accurately and on schedule.\nDesign and implement technology and networking solutions that improve business efficiency and system performance.\nDeploy new IT solutions locally and across international locations.\nSpecify, configure and maintain server hardware and operating systems, including patches and software upgrades.\nProvide remote and onsite desktop, server and network support, including user-facing tickets and helpdesk overflow.\nWork with internal stakeholders and external service providers to support infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.\nSkills required\nA relevant IT networking qualification or recognised industry certification.\nAdvanced knowledge of firewalls and sound knowledge of networking principles.\nHands-on experience configuring and supporting routers, switches, wireless equipment and other networking hardware.\nExperience with security appliances, wireless technologies, web proxies, LAN/WAN environments and virtualisation tools.\nExperience supporting server hardware, operating systems, patching and software upgrades.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft applications.\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.\nA customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently, use initiative and escalate issues when appropriate.\nAble to prioritise competing demands while working effectively as part of a wider team.\nA flexible, adaptable approach and a willingness to learn new technologies and skills.\nBenefits & Culture:\nOur culture is supportive and collaborative within a multidisciplinary team where we share our ideas and innovation is strongly encouraged.
