Our products are used across defence, uncrewed systems, government, and broadcast markets.\nAbout the Role\nDue to continued growth and success across the business, we are looking for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on embedded software expertise within our engineering team.\nThis role is ideal for an experienced embedded engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technical delivery, supporting other engineers, and helping turn project requirements into clear, structured work packages.\nThis position provides technical and project leadership for Embedded Engineers across key initiatives, without direct line management responsibilities. You will support the Embedded Manager by helping to interpret requirements, break down technical work, delegate tasks across the team, and monitor progress from concept through to completion.\nYou will:\n-Lead and coordinate embedded engineering activity on one or more projects\n-Interpret project requirements and translate them into clear technical work packages\n-Delegate and track work across embedded engineering team members\n-Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers\n-Develop high-quality embedded C/C++ software for real-time and embedded Linux systems\n-Work across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production\n-Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project managers\n-Contribute to the delivery of advanced wireless communication systems\nYou’ll also have the opportunity to work with software-defined radio, wireless mesh networks, video & audio processing and cutting-edge RF technologies.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEssential:\n-Strong team leadership skills within an embedded engineering environment\n-Ability to interpret project requirements, delegate work, and support delivery through to completion\n-Strong hands-on embedded C/C++ development experience\n-Experience working with embedded Linux\n-Strong understanding of electronics and working with test equipment\n-Degree in Electronics, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline\nDesirable:\n-Experience with Yocto\n-FPGA development experience using VHDL\n-Experience with Xilinx FPGAs\n-Experience with Qt\n-Python development experience\n-Exposure to SDR, RF systems, wireless communications, video, audio processing, or DSP\n-Background in defence, telecommunications, broadcast, or similar industries\nWhy Join DTC\n-Work on cutting-edge technology at the limits of what’s possible\n-Own your work from design through to delivery\n-Be part of a highly skilled, collaborative engineering team\n-Flexible working, competitive salary, and strong benefits package\n-Ongoing training and development, including exposure to new technologies\nSuccessful applicants will need to be eligible for Security Clearance.\nInterested in a career with DTC?
