We design and operate AI platforms enabling customers to run inference models with unmatched performance, compliance, and economics. We build the foundational infrastructure powering our globally distributed platform AI, Kubernetes orchestration, GPU resource management, networking, and multi-region deployment. #AIC\nPartner with the best\nAs a Platform Engineer II, you will build and maintain platform services supporting our globally distributed AI inference infrastructure. Your work will span data plane APIs, authentication, and multi-tenant security. You'll gain exposure to AI infrastructure patterns while working with senior engineers building systems powering inference workloads.\nAs a Platform Engineer II, you will be responsible for:\nDeveloping and maintaining data plane APIs that enable reliable and performant communication between platform components and inference services.\n\nImplementing authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant security controls that ensure isolation and compliance across the platform.\n\nContributing to the design and development of platform services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability\n\nWriting well-tested, well-documented code and participating in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.\n\nSupporting operational readiness through monitoring, alerting, and incident response for platform services you help build.\n\nDo what you love\nTo be successful in this role you will:\nHave relevant experience.\n\nDemonstrate proficiency in at least one systems programming language such as Go, Python, or Java\n\nShow experience building and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs in a distributed systems environment.\n\nHave familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or Akamai Cloud), containerization, and basic Kubernetes concepts.\n\nDemonstrate understanding of authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth, RBAC, or multi-tenant isolation.\n\nShow familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and modern software development practices.\n\nDemonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn and thrive in a dynamic engineering setting.\n\nWork in a way that works for you\nFlexBase, Akamai's Global Flexible Working Program, is based on the principles that are helping us create the best workplace in the world.
