You will own the accuracy, compliance, and scalability of Code Metal’s financial operations across business, including commercial software contracts and government contracts of varying types. This is a hands-on role. You’ll start in the general ledger, own core processes such as close, evolve accounting policies and controls, and build the team and systems as we scale. You will report to the Head of Finance and partner closely with finance, contracts, people ops, and more.\nKey Responsibilities:\n Close & Reporting:\nOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for all entities, including consolidation and inter-company.\n\nPrepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting packages for leadership and the board.\n\nOwn revenue recognition under ASC 606 across software, services, and government contracts (FFP, T&M, cost-type).\n\n Government Contract Accounting & Compliance:\nMaintain an accounting system that meets DCAA standards, covering timekeeping, labor distribution, job costing, and segregation of unallowable costs.\n\nSupport definition of indirect rate structures (fringe, overhead, G&A), provisional billing rates, and incurred cost submissions.\n\nSupport pricing, proposals, billing, and readiness for government audits, in partnership with contracts and BD.\n\nControls, Policy & Audit:\nDesign and document accounting policies and internal controls that scale with the business.\n\nLead the annual external audit and serve as the primary point of contact for auditors.\n\nOwn technical accounting, including stock compensation, capitalized software, commission capitalization, and M&A purchase accounting.\n\nCash Operations:\nExecute cash management, bank reconciliations, AP/AR, and payroll accounting within our treasury policy.\n\nTeam & Systems:\nTransition work from our external accounting provider and integrate acquired-entity accounting onto a unified platform.\n\nLead the evaluation and implementation of accounting and ERP systems suited to commercial and government contracting needs.\n\nBuild and lead the accounting team over time.\n\nDesired Qualifications:\n8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controller- or assistant controller-level ownership.\n\nCPA required.\n\nHands-on experience with government contract accounting, including DCAA, FAR Part 31, indirect rates, and incurred cost submissions strongly preferred.\n\nExperience leading external audits and building close processes and controls from early stage.\n\nWorking knowledge of ASC 606 for software and multi-element arrangements; M&A integration experience a plus.\n\nComfort being hands-on in a fast-moving environment while building for scale.\n\nBenefits\nPay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary range\n\nHealth care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision\n\n401k with 5% matching\n\nPaid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays)\n\nFlexible hybrid or remote work arrangement\n\nRelocation assistance for qualifying employees\n\nWage Transparency - The salary range for this role is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, individual proficiency, skills, experience, and location.\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
