Coder is an enterprise cloud development environment (CDE) and developer workspace management platform headquartered in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2017 by Ammar Bandukwala, Kyle Carberry, and John Andrew Entwistle, the company is led by CEO Rob Whiteley and has raised over $170 million in venture funding - including a Series C led by KKR alongside investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, and Uncork Capital.

Coder is looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager to lead our product management function and raise the bar for how we build. You will develop PMs, strengthen product execution, and help turn strategy into measurable outcomes for customers and teams.

You will manage a small team of product managers while partnering closely with Engineering, Design, GTM, and executive leadership. You will coach people, improve systems, and keep product decisions grounded in real customer evidence.

What you’ll do here

  • Coach and develop product managers at every stage, helping strong executors grow into strategic leaders.

  • Set a high bar for product discovery, planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing to align priorities and deliver outcomes.

  • Create clarity around product priorities, tradeoffs, and investment decisions.

  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, authority, and autonomy across the product organization.

  • Lead customer discovery and ensure product decisions are grounded in objective evidence, not assumptions.

  • Improve how the product organization operates, including planning, roadmap development, product reviews, and decision-making frameworks.

  • Serve as a senior product leader and trusted partner to executive leadership.

What we’re looking for

  • Significant product management experience, including experience leading or managing product managers.

  • A strong track record of coaching and developing PM talent.

  • Excellent customer discovery and validation skills, including interviews that uncover objective insights and real customer needs.

  • Sound judgment and pragmatism. You know when to optimize for outcomes, when to improve process, and how to balance strategy with execution.

  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to build those qualities across a team.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to influence across functions, levels, and priorities.

  • Experience operating in fast-moving environments while bringing the discipline needed to support enterprise customers.

  • Strong product fundamentals across roadmap development, prioritization, product strategy, stakeholder management, metrics, and execution.

Bonus tacos if you have

  • Experience building or scaling a product management function.

  • Experience working with developer tools, infrastructure, security, cloud, or enterprise software.

  • Experience supporting self-hosted, open-source, or technical buyer motions.

  • A track record of improving product operating systems without adding unnecessary process.

Interview process

We believe that the interview process should be transparent, consistent, and enjoyable. We value your time and hope to complete the interview process in two to four weeks, if schedules allow. Through your interviews, you will meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and senior leaders.

AI use during the interview process

As an AI company, Coder embraces the use of AI tools, and we want to be transparent about our expectations as you navigate our interview process.

Not permitted: Using AI assistance during conversational interviews.

Permitted: Using AI tooling for take-home assessments. Please flag where and to what extent it was used in your take-home. Your submission will not be penalized for using AI as long as it is done honestly.

Our use of AI in hiring

We use AI tools to help manage our recruitment process efficiently and fairly. Specifically:

  • Ashby helps us review inbound applications by surfacing candidates who best match the role requirements we've defined. This tool does not make hiring decisions; it helps our team prioritize which applications to review first.

  • Granola takes notes during our interview calls so our team can focus on the conversation with you.

All hiring decisions are made by humans. Our team reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes final selections. AI tools assist us but never replace human judgment, and these practices are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection, AI governance, and labor laws. Your data is not used to train AI models.

In accordance with New York City Local Law 144, an independent bias audit has been conducted on "Automated Employment Decision Tools"; results are available for Ashby.

If you're applying for a role at Coder and have questions about how we use AI in our process, or if you'd like to request information about the data we collect, please contact [email protected].
