Senior Software Development Engineer - Test

Job Description :

As a Senior SDET, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust automated test solutions.

The role requires strong software engineering and test automation skills, with hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, test tools, and automated test scenarios. You will work across applications, operating systems, and CI/CD environments, including Linux, to troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure the quality, reliability, performance, and scalability of the product.

You will contribute to the overall test automation strategy, continuously improve automation frameworks, and work closely with developers, testers, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance SDET-level test automation frameworks and tools for the E3D Design application.

- Develop reliable, maintainable, and scalable automated tests using appropriate programming languages and automation technologies.

- Analyze product requirements and technical specifications to identify comprehensive test scenarios and automation opportunities.

- Build reusable automation components and utilities to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and maintainability.

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and ensure reliable execution across supported environments.

- Work hands-on with Linux operating systems, including installation/configuration, command-line utilities, shell scripting, process management, file systems, permissions, environment configuration, and troubleshooting.

- Develop and execute automated tests in Linux-based environments and investigate issues related to application behaviour, dependencies, configuration, and system resources.

- Strong knowledge of AI agents and agentic workflows, with the ability to translate testing requirements into scalable AI-driven automation solutions and identify opportunities to improve test coverage and efficiency.

- Troubleshoot and debug automation failures and product issues across applications, framework, and operating-system layers.

- Analyze logs, crash reports, test results, and system behaviour to identify root causes and work with development teams to resolve defects.

- Contribute to improving test automation reliability by identifying and reducing flaky tests.

- Participate in code reviews and follow software engineering best practices for automation code.

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional and distributed teams to plan, execute, and deliver testing activities within agreed timelines.

- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, frameworks, and engineering practices.

Desired Experience :

- 8+ years of experience in software testing, test automation, SDET, or a related software engineering role within a product/project development environment.

- Strong hands-on experience in software test automation and automation framework development, with the ability to write production-quality automation code.

- Strong programming experience in C#, .NET, Python, or other relevant programming languages.

- Hands-on experience working with Linux operating systems, including command-line operations, shell scripting, process management, file permissions, environment variables, package/dependency management, system troubleshooting, and log analysis.

- Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks for Desktop and Web applications and building comprehensive test scenarios and acceptance tests.

- Good understanding of CI/CD practices and Azure DevOps, including automated test execution and integration of test automation into pipelines.

- Experience with source control, code reviews, build systems, and software development practices.

- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, defect lifecycle, and risk-based test coverage.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

- Ability to independently investigate complex technical problems, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.

- Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative engineering environment.

- Strong understanding of SDET principles and automation architecture.

- Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation frameworks.

- Experience identifying opportunities to replace repetitive manual testing with automation.

Linux & System Troubleshooting :

- Strong hands-on experience with Linux-based environments.

- Comfortable using the Linux command line for application deployment, configuration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.

- Familiarity with emulators and compatibility layers in Linux environments, particularly Wine/Proton, including basic understanding of their architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.

- Experience with shell scripting and Linux utilities.

- Ability to investigate application crashes, processes, permissions, environment configuration, dependencies, and system/resource issues.

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate complex problems across application, automation, and operating-system layers.
