Reporting to the Global Controller, this role owns the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across Cofense's U.S. and international entities, ensures the accuracy and timeliness of consolidated financial statements, and serves as a key partner to the Controller on technical accounting, audit, and process improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can both manage a team and stay close to the detail.\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Close & Reporting\nOwn and manage the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar across all entities, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing accuracy.\nReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team.\nOversee consolidation of international subsidiaries, including intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation (CTA), and equity-method entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 810, ASC 830) and, where applicable, local statutory requirements.\nPerform monthly variance analysis on financial results, investigating drivers and providing commentary to senior leadership.\nOwn lease accounting under ASC 842, including new and modified lease assessments, ROU asset and lease liability schedules, and related disclosures.\nServe as a primary point of contact for external auditors; manage audit request lists, timelines, and technical accounting memos to support clean, on-schedule completion of the annual consolidated audit and international statutory audits.\nMaintain and strengthen internal controls over the close and reporting process, identifying and remediating gaps proactively.\nTeam Management & Development\nDirectly supervise, mentor, and develop the Senior Accountant and Accounts Payable Manager, setting clear priorities and providing regular feedback and coaching.\nManage team workload and capacity through the close cycle, adjusting assignments to meet deadlines and cover gaps during turnover or reduced headcount.\nLead onboarding and training for new team members, including documentation of close procedures and system workflows.\nConduct performance reviews and support career development planning for direct reports.\nFoster a collaborative, accountable team culture and act as an escalation point for issues the team cannot resolve independently.\nProcess, Systems & Cross-Functional Partnership\nPartner with the Global Controller on technical accounting research and documentation for new transactions, standards, and entities.\nDrive continuous improvement of close processes, including automation and system optimization within NetSuite and related tools (e.g., Tipalti, Navan).\nCollaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.\nSupport ad hoc projects such as system implementations, entity restructurings, and process documentation\nEducation and/or Experience:\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.\nCPA license required or actively in progress.\n8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity or global consolidation experience; public accounting (audit) background a plus.\n2+ years of experience directly managing or supervising accounting staff.\nStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency translation.\nExperience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system strongly preferred; SaaS or technology industry experience a plus.\nDemonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines across a lean team, with a track record of meeting close timelines under resource constraints.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external auditors.\nHigh attention to detail balanced with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nConsolidated close is delivered accurately and on schedule every period, with a well-documented, controlled process.\nThe accounting team is engaged, developing, and able to absorb change (headcount shifts, new entities, system changes) without disruption to the close.\nThe annual consolidated audit and all international statutory audits are completed on time with minimal adjustments and strong auditor feedback.\n- Disclaimer-\nThe above statements are neither intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the job described, nor are they intended to be a listing of all of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
