They are passionate about their craft and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth, diverse experience, and professional excellence.\nThe successful individual will have a passion for protecting lives from fire risks in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have a fire protection engineering degree and professional experience in fire protection engineering. An engineering degree in other fields (mechanical, architectural, civil, etc.) with working experience in fire protection will also be considered.\nTechnical skills will include, but may not be limited to, fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; automatic suppression system design and analysis; fire detection, alarm and communication system design and analysis; smoke control design and special inspections; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.\nThe Denver Fire Protection Engineering department collectively has 50+ years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering across our department of six. We enjoy working together collaboratively in the office while supporting and challenging each other to deliver good engineering work that makes the world a safer place.\n Requirements Include:\nBachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Sciences. Degree in other engineering field with fire protection experience also considered.\nFrom five (5) or more years of experience in the fire protection engineering/consulting profession.\nPE or ability to obtain PE within 2 years. NICET level III / IV also considered.\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills.\nAbility to work on a highly-motivated team, think outside the box, and be proud of the work you do while having a passion for expanding your knowledge and skills.\nWorking in-person in our Westminster, CO office, full-time, Monday through Friday.\nDesired Skills and Duties:\nPossess intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and simple graphics.\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and fire protection software packages (e.g. CONTAM, FDS).\nPossess persuasive writing and technical report writing skills.\nManage day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.\nPossess project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs.\nAttend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.\nProvide peer reviews of colleagues’ work product.\nHave or be developing an “area of expertise” within fire protection engineering.\nPerform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations.\nPrepare performance-based designs and fire hazards analysis.\nDevelop engineering judgements for code alternatives.\nPerform analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as designing new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and mass notification systems.\nPerform research and documentation for internal and external distribution.\nThis position is not eligible for current or future sponsorship.\nThe expected annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000, depending on experience.
