This position leads field crews, coordinates jobsite activities, ensures quality workmanship, and maintains compliance with safety and building code requirements.\nResponsibilities\nTypical Work Activities\nUnit Installation\nReceive, uncrate, and position HVAC equipment at commercial jobsites.\n\nUse mechanical equipment such as forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, as well as manual methods, to safely position equipment.\n\nAssist with installation, connection, and startup of commercial HVAC equipment.\n\nDuct Installation\nInstall metal and flexible HVAC ductwork in overhead applications.\n\nInstall hangers by drilling or fastening into ceilings and structural surfaces.\n\nSecure ductwork using appropriate hangers, connectors, and installation methods.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nSupervise Projects: Lead field crews of mechanics, apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors on commercial job sites while managing schedules, materials, and workflow.\n\nMaintain Commercial Equipment: Troubleshoot, repair, service, and maintain chillers, boilers, rooftop units (RTUs), air handling units (AHUs), variable air volume (VAV) boxes, and other commercial HVAC equipment.\n\nManage Automation Systems: Program, diagnose, troubleshoot, and interface with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).\n\nRead Blueprints: Interpret mechanical schematics, electrical diagrams, architectural blueprints, piping layouts, and other construction documents.\n\nOversee Safety & Quality: Enforce jobsite safety requirements and verify that work is completed according to applicable commercial building codes, project specifications, and quality standards.\n\nCommunicate with Customers and General Contractors: Maintain professional communication with general contractors, customers, project managers, and other trades.\n\nManage Crew Performance: Supervise mechanics, apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors while providing direction and support.\n\nWork Independently: Complete assigned work with minimal direct supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.\n\nMaintain Jobsite Standards: Keep work areas clean, organized, safe, and professional.\n\nSupport Team Development: Provide guidance and training to less-experienced team members and maintain a teachable, service-oriented approach.\n\nRequirements & Qualifications\nExperience\n5-10+ years of commercial HVAC field experience.\n\nMinimum of 2 years in a foreman, lead, or supervisory role preferred.\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.\n\nExperience with 3-phase electrical systems.\n\nExperience with hydronic piping systems.\n\nKnowledge of heavy-tonnage refrigeration systems.\n\nExperience with complex air balancing.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and controls-related issues.\n\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, piping layouts, and electrical diagrams.\n\nExperience with BAS and EMS systems preferred.\n\nPhysical & Environmental Requirements\nAbility to work on rooftops and in various commercial construction environments.\n\nAbility to safely operate or work from scissor lifts and boom lifts.\n\nAbility to lift and carry commercial HVAC components weighing up to 75+ pounds.\n\nAbility to work in varying weather and jobsite conditions.\n\nAbility to follow all applicable safety procedures and requirements.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nCommunicate regularly with general contractors and customers.\n\nSupervise crews, helpers, and subcontractors.\n\nWork independently without direct supervision.\n\nRead, review, and work from blueprints and construction documents.\n\nMaintain a teachable, service-oriented mindset.\n\nDemonstrate strong attention to detail.\n\nTake responsibility for personal safety and the safety of other employees.\n\nMaintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.\n\nLicenses & Certifications\nValid driver's license with a good driving record.\n\nEPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.\n\nCommercial driver's license endorsement highly
