Overview\nCognizant is seeking a Sr. Lab System Support Engineer to support and govern laboratory systems and non-networked laboratory instruments within regulated Life Sciences environments.\nThis role is responsible for establishing and maintaining governance processes, system controls, backup and restoration procedures, privileged access management, instrument inventory management, and compliance-related activities to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant laboratory operations.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting laboratory systems, computer system validation, GxP compliance, and regulated environments while collaborating with Quality, IT, Metrology, Laboratory Operations, and third-party vendors.\nWork Model\nThis position follows a Onsite work model.\nKey Responsibilities\nLaboratory Systems Support\nProvide first-level hands-on support for laboratory software systems and instrument integration platforms.\nTroubleshoot and resolve laboratory system incidents, service requests, and technical issues.\nCoordinate with Desktop Support, Infrastructure, and Network teams on hardware- and connectivity-related issues.\nSupport routine system maintenance and ensure minimal disruption to laboratory operations.\nCollaborate with vendors during system failures, maintenance activities, upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.\nLaboratory Instrument Governance\nLead governance activities for non-networked laboratory instruments.\nEstablish and maintain manual backup and restoration processes for laboratory systems and instruments.\nDefine and implement risk-based instrument categorization frameworks.\nDevelop and maintain centralized inventories of laboratory instruments, including classification and control parameters.\nEnsure instrument governance processes align with corporate and regulatory requirements.\nAccess & Security Management\nEstablish and maintain administrator account management procedures.\nImplement secure privileged access controls, including:Administrator Account Management\nCredential Custody and Handover\nPassword Rotation Processes\nAccess Reviews\n\nImplement controlled date and time management processes with documented exception handling.\nSupport data integrity initiatives through effective access management and security controls.\nDocumentation & SOP Management\nDevelop, update, and maintain:Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)\nWork Instructions (WIs)\nUser Guides\nConfiguration Documentation\nSupport Procedures\n\nEnsure documentation remains current and compliant with regulatory standards.\nSupport continuous improvement of laboratory governance procedures and operational processes.\nCompliance & Validation Support\nEnsure laboratory systems are maintained in accordance with:Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)\nGood Manufacturing Practices (GMP)\nGxP Requirements\nFDA Regulations\n\nSupport Computer System Validation (CSV) activities, including validation documentation and execution support.\nAssist with maintaining validated states for laboratory systems and instruments.\nEnsure compliance with established SOPs, validation procedures, and quality standards.\nQuality & Regulatory Support\nSupport audit readiness activities and regulatory inspections.\nAssist with audit inquiries and compliance-related requests from Laboratory IT.\nSupport:Deviations\nChange Controls\nCAPAs\nProblem Management Activities\n\nMaintain audit trails and support data archival processes.\nEnsure documentation and evidence are available for internal and external audits.\nService Management & Continuous Improvement\nUtilize ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow for incident, request, and change management activities.\nParticipate in root-cause analysis and issue investigation activities.\nRecommend process improvements that enhance system reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.\nCollaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory support functions.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.\nExperience supporting laboratory systems and laboratory instruments within regulated Life Sciences environments.\nGood knowledge of:GxP Regulations\nGLP\nGMP\nFDA Compliance Requirements\n\nExperience with Computer System Validation (CSV).\nUnderstanding of laboratory instruments and analytical technologies.\nFamiliarity with laboratory software systems and instrument integration platforms.\nExperience creating and maintaining SOPs and Work Instructions.\nKnowledge of:Incident Management\nProblem Management\nChange Management\nCAPA Processes\nDeviation Management\n\nExperience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.\nStrong troubleshooting and technical support skills.\nExcellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities.\nAbility to work effectively within regulated environments and follow established procedures.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device laboratories.\nKnowledge of laboratory instrument lifecycle management.\nExperience supporting audit and inspection readiness activities.\nFamiliarity with laboratory data integrity requirements and ALCOA+ principles.\nExperience working with Metrology and Quality organizations.\nExposure to infrastructure, desktop support, and laboratory network environments.\nUnderstanding of computerized laboratory systems and instrument integration technologies.\nRegulatory & Compliance Knowledge\nCandidates should demonstrate experience with:\nGood Management\nAudit and Inspection Readiness\nLaboratory System Governance\nSalary and Other Compensation\nThe annual salary for this position is anticipated to be between $95,000 and $115,000 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.\nIn addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for:\nAnnual performance-based
