Software Engineer II, BI

What you’ll do:

• Lead technical design and architecture for complex features across our business intelligence platform
• Take full ownership of end-to-end feature releases, platform enhancements, and system optimization initiatives
• Drive technical decision-making by conducting thorough analysis, evaluating trade-offs, and making data-driven architectural choices
• Architect and implement highly scalable cloud-based data services, APIs, ETL pipelines, and user interfaces
• Build mission-critical backend systems supporting analytics, reporting, and complex data query capabilities at scale
• Design and develop intuitive UI platforms and interactive dashboards for data visualization and business intelligence
• Champion engineering excellence by establishing and enforcing best practices, design patterns, and coding standards
• Optimize system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for scalability and reliability
• Define and maintain comprehensive test strategies, ensuring high code quality and test coverage
• Actively participate in ensuring Cohere maintains a disciplined approach to healthcare security, compliance, and data governance
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their technical growth and career development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data science, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver robust technical solutions

 ISMS roles and responsibilities:

• Fair understanding of Information Security practices.
• Align to the organization policies and procedures.
• Ensure to get updated with ISMS roles as assigned by the department/process heads.

What you’ll need:

• You have extensive experience building and deploying production-grade backend systems, RESTful APIs, and modern web applications at scale
• You are passionate about technical excellence and architectural best practices, with a track record of building high-quality, maintainable systems
• You can lead technical initiatives from conception through delivery, making sound architectural decisions along the way
• You excel at breaking down complex problems into manageable solutions and can articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You have a strong ownership mentality and take pride in the quality and impact of your work
• You can mentor and elevate other engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing
• You have experience with system design, performance optimization, and building for scale
• You understand data modeling, query optimization, and best practices for working with large datasets
• You are a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can balance velocity with quality

Must-haves

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in software development lifecycle
• Strong expertise in backend development using Python with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django
• Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture principles
• Proven experience building UI platforms using React and TypeScript/JavaScript, with strong understanding of modern frontend patterns and state management
• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS) including services like Athena, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience building data pipelines, ETL processes, or analytics platforms
• Strong proficiency with test frameworks such as pytest, Jest, Cypress, JUnit, or similar
• Experience with NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.) and understanding of when to use them
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and query optimization for large datasets and complex analytical queries
• Prior experience with Tableau APIs and BI tool integrations
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building applications using React and TypeScript
• Hands on experience leveraging test frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, Mocha, JUnit, or Cucumber
• Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems is a plus
• Prior experience in healthcare and life sciences is a plus, but not required
• Track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and driving engineering culture improvements

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Hyderabad, Telangana: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
