In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, and help minimize downtime to support a 24/7 industrial environment.\nYou will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency by responding to emergency repairs, supporting new equipment installations, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. This position also participates in the site’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), requiring a strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous training.\nThe ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently while adapting to changing priorities. We’re looking for individuals who enjoy working across a variety of mechanical and facility systems and take pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.\nStrong candidates typically have experience in areas such as:\nGeneral mechanical maintenance and equipment repair\n\nWelding, fabrication, or pipefitting\n\nPlumbing, carpentry, and facility upkeep\n\nReading blueprints and using diagnostic tools\n\nYou’ll do well in this role if you:\nPrefer a variety of tasks over repetitive, single-discipline work\n\nAre comfortable working independently and solving problems in real time\n\nCan shift priorities quickly to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment\n\nValue safety and are willing to participate in emergency response activities\n\nThis position is a great fit for technicians coming from manufacturing, industrial plants, facilities maintenance, or military maintenance backgrounds who are looking to apply a wide range of hands-on skills.\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\nEffectively performs emergency and unscheduled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks per policies and procedures\n\nResponsible for completing maintenance activities on schedule and within quality standards to limit equipment downtime\n\nSuccessfully performs maintenance related activities correlated to the installation of new equipment and process controls\n\nAccurately completes and communicates required documentation of work orders, status updates and service records\n\nDirects assigned projects including procurement, installation, renovations, and modifications per PSM compliance standards and within safe work practices\n\nApproaches all activities with a “safety first” attitude, keeping work, storage, and supply areas clean and organized.\n\nActively takes part in the Emergency Response Team (ERT), maintaining all required training and medical certifications and responds to incident and/or emergency situations\n\nWorking Conditions\nDirect physical work in an industrial manufacturing setting\n\nExposure to dusts, fumes, heat, noise, cold and potential exposure to hazardous and toxic materials\n\nPotential to work in isolated locations\n\nWork may occasionally be performed outdoors in variable weather conditions\n\nWork may consist of being elevated either on ladder or lift, or in tight spaces\n\nWorking hours may consist of off-shift, on-call, weekends, and holidays to accommodate a 24/7 operation\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.\n\nAbility to climb, bend, reach, push, pull, and work on ladders or mechanical lifts.\n\nAbility to wear required PPE and safety equipment for extended periods.\n\nAbility to meet physical requirements for required Emergency Response Team participation.\n\nSafety Requirements\nAll employees must comply with site EHS procedures and Coherent Corporate EHS standards.\nPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE):\nSafety glasses, goggles, splash shields\n\nSteel toe footwear\n\nLong pants, sleeved uniform, hearing protection\n\nDust mask, respirator, or supplied air as required\n\nMedical Screening:\nPre-employment PFT and respirator physical\n\nRequired Annual PFT and respirator physicals\n\nQuality and Environmental Responsibilities\nDue to inventory quantities of some highly hazardous materials, MPZ is covered by OSHA standard for Process Safety Management, as well as EPA’s Risk Management program. All MPZ personnel are required to understand the importance of following all operating procedures to maintain regulatory compliance with these programs.\n\nDue to classification of several process waste streams, DEP standards for Hazardous Waste handling and storage must be followed to ensure regulatory compliance.\n\nCoherent meets the ISO 9001 quality standards.
