Verify effectiveness through device performance, yield improvement, and sustained process stability.\nPlan and evaluate experiments to understand relationships between epitaxial properties, fabrication processes, and device performance.\nSupport product characterization, specification reviews, and evaluation of process changes to maintain product performance and manufacturability.\nCommunicate yield trends, investigation findings, corrective actions, and improvement progress through clear technical reports and regular product reviews.\nEducation & Experience\nMinimum 4 years of relevant experience in semiconductor product engineering, device engineering, process engineering, or a related technical role.\nBS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent degree.\nExperience analyzing semiconductor device performance, investigating manufacturing yield loss, and applying structured root cause analysis.\nExperience with III-V semiconductor devices, particularly InP lasers or photodiodes, is preferred.\nSkills\nStrong understanding of semiconductor laser fundamentals, including threshold current, optical gain and loss, slope efficiency, spectral behavior, and temperature-dependent performance.\nStrong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect device behavior to potential epitaxial, fabrication, or test-related causes.\nWorking knowledge of statistical analysis, process control, and design of experiments.\nAbility to take ownership of yield issues, prioritize investigations, and follow corrective actions through implementation and verification.\nStrong interpersonal, teaming, and technical communication skills.\nWork effectively with other members of Coherent Corp. across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and reliability functions to resolve technical issues and improve product yield.\nData processing, scripting, and automation skills are a significant plus, particularly experience with JMP/JSL, SQL, Python, or similar tools for analyzing large manufacturing datasets.\nWorking Conditions\nWork in office and semiconductor manufacturing environments.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to perform computer-based data analysis, prepare technical documentation, and participate in technical discussions.\nAbility to access laboratory and manufacturing areas, including occasional standing and walking, as required by the role.\nSafety Requirements\nAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
