Activities include hands-on prototyping, CNC programming, machining of prototypes (milling, grinding, EDM, lapping, other), fabrication of fixtures, design, process optimization (cycle time, quality, yield), and data collection. All results will be documented (data summaries, Work Instructions, reports). Successful new products will be transferred to manufacturing (specifying equipment, training personnel, monitoring results).\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\nMachining (milling, grinding, EDM, lapping, other) of prototypes manufactured from advanced composite materials\n\nPerform equipment programming in the assigned area of responsibility (MasterCAM, PC-DIMS, Calyspo, MX, others)\n\nGenerate PC-based outputs on standard platforms (Agile, Oracle, Cumulus, Creo, Solidworks, others)\n\nDetailed process and product tracking\n\nContinuous improvement via participation in Lean/Kaizen, ISO, 8D and other related activities\n\nTransfer successful products to Manufacturing, including writing documentation, specifying equipment, conducting training, and monitoring results\n\nEducation & Experience\nBS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent engineering/machining education) with 2+ years' experience\n\nEquivalent work and or education/work experience considered\n\nSkills\nBroad experience with machining methods, including milling, grinding, turning, EDM, and other\n\nWorking knowledge of machining advanced materials (ceramics, composites, other)\n\nExperience with GD&T and inspection equipment, hand tools, visual tools, etc.\n\nKnowledge of design software, e.g., CAD (ProE/Creo, SolidWorks, other), CAM (MasterCam, SurfCam, GibbsCam, other), and CMM (PC-DIMS, Calyspo)\n\nWorking Conditions\nPosition requires on-site shopfloor activites for prototype fabrication\n\nWork schedule is 5 days, 40 hours per week, first shift\n\nPhysical Requirements\nHands-on, shop-based job environment:\nRequired to frequently lift/push/pull a minimum of 35 lbs\nMust be able to sit, bend, squat and walk about facility\nDepending on project assignment, may be required to walk/stand for entire 8 hour day\n\nSafety Requirements\nAll employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards.
