Typically, an AA degree, military technical training or their equivalent vocational training is required.\nDescription for Internal Candidates:\nWe are seeking a Test Technician to aid in the production of high-power CO2 lasers in our Bloomfield, CT facility. This position requires individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, technically demanding and constantly evolving product landscape. Standard schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\nWorks on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required\nWork with free-space optical components\n\nMind-set to constantly pursue the basic understanding or root cause of problems and to continually improve.\n\nDetail oriented with well refined troubleshooting skills and techniques while working under minimal supervision.\nSelf-motivation and the ability to maintain effectiveness in working several tasks in parallel while bringing each to conclusion, in a timely manner.\nPersonal time management and organizational skills.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nLearns quickly and demonstrates aptitude for growth and development\nResponsive and reliable - Can be counted on by others.\nParticipate in the Identification of creative solutions/approaches to problems\nOperate laser beam analyzers, optical power meters, power supplies and oscilloscopes\nSupport Lean Initiatives including 3S weekly & 6S monthly activities.\nEnsure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behaviors\nOther duties as business needs require\n\nEducation & Experience\nTechnical Associates degree or Certificate in Laser Electro Optics or related discipline + 0 years of experience ---OR --- 1+ years of closely related opto-mechanical, electronics assembly, or test experience\nMechanical and Electrical Assembly experience required\n\nSkills\nAbility to follow work instructions, interpret optical and electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering plans and specifications as required\nApproximately 4 years’ experience with hand tools and power tools, soldering equipment, vacuum systems, and electrical equipment\nRequires experience in testing digital and/or analog systems\nAbility to read drawings and use measurement instruments \nKnowledge of laser components preferred\nExperience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel) required\nAbility to work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring sound judgment in trouble shooting, resolving issues and the ability to provide recommendations\nAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to effectively interact with cross-functional groups\nAbility to work with minimal supervision\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift ~ 50lbs on occasion\n\nSafety Requirements\nAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
