You will be working in close partnership with Product Management, Architects, Data Scientists, and engineering leaders across global locations and drive both execution and innovation - owning some of our most strategic technical projects, delivering systems that transform how enterprise customers derive insight from their data.\nSuccess in this role calls for an energetic, creative and driven leader who combines strong technical judgment with the communication and organizational skills to work effectively across a global organization.\nHow You'll Spend Your Time Here\nBuild, lead, and grow high-performing engineering teams. \nCollaborate with Product Management and Architects to define roadmaps and translate strategy into execution. \nLead development of AI-powered search, indexing, data retrieval, RAG workflows, and enterprise data intelligence. \nParticipate directly in architecture and design review for the team’s critical components, setting the technical bar through judgment rather than process alone. \nEstablish engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD, and operational excellence. \nDrive adoption of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, and similar) to measurably accelerate the development lifecycle, while maintaining the engineering rigor and review standards that enterprise software demands. \nPartner with cross-functional teams across engineering, security, support, and customer success. \nMentor senior engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning. \nManage planning, staffing, resource allocation, and delivery commitments. \nWhat Success Looks Like\nGaia revenue and adoption targets are met, with engineering delivery as a contributing driver and unblocking customer deployments.\nRetrieval and answer quality improve against a defensible, repeatable evaluation baseline that the team owns. \nAI-assisted development tooling is in routine use across the team, with a measurable effect on delivery velocity. \nThe team is fully staffed and stable, with a clear development path for each engineer and a strengthened senior bench. \nWe'd Love to Talk to You if You Have Many of the Following\nBS/MS in Computer Science or a relevant technical field \n10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in planning, architecting, and delivering high-quality products. \n5+ years of building, managing or leading high-performance development teams. \nKnowledge of agile/scrum methodologies. \nDomain expertise in relevant areas such as Distributed systems, Platform, Storage, Data Management products, Data pipelines/ETL, Kubernetes. \nExperience driving engineering execution across geographically distributed teams. \nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills. \nProven track record of hiring, developing and retaining strong engineers. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building AI/ML, GenAI, RAG, semantic search, or enterprise knowledge platforms. \nFamiliarity with LLMs, vector databases, embeddings, AI orchestration frameworks, and intelligent retrieval systems. \nExperience with large-scale data platforms ordata protection, storage, security, search technologies. \nBackground shipping on-premises or hybrid products with formal support and release lifecycle commitments. \nData Privacy Notice for Job Candidates:\nFor information on personal data processing, please see our Privacy Policy.\nEqual Employment Opportunity Employer (EEOE)\nCohesity is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
