We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Designer to develop high-quality electrical documentation for complex semiconductor handler systems. This position focuses on detailed electrical wiring, cable and harness development, engineering documentation, and support of prototype and production builds.\nSuccess in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high engineering quality.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer-sponsored visa sponsorship, now or in the future.\nEssential Functions/Major Responsibilities\nElectrical Design\nDevelop electrical schematics, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and related documentation.\nDesign wiring solutions for complex industrial equipment following established engineering standards.\nSelect connectors, terminals, wire types, cable protection, and standard electrical components (Breakers, Relays, EMO switches, etc.)\nDesign high-flex cable systems and e-chain routing for moving assemblies.\nSupport prototype builds and production by resolving electrical documentation issues.\nEngineering Documentation\nCreate and maintain accurate electrical documentation.\nGenerate wire lists, cable schedules, connector tables, harness drawings, labels, and related manufacturing documentation.\nCreate, structure and maintain BOMs in the Company’s ORACLE database in align with mechanical engineering team.\nMaintain documentation throughout the product lifecycle, including Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).\nEnsure released documentation is complete, accurate, and consistent with company standards.\nEngineering Support\nSupport prototype assembly and manufacturing by answering electrical documentation questions.\nWork closely with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and systems engineers to resolve integration issues.\nParticipate in electrical design reviews.\nResolve assigned engineering issues in a timely manner. we.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation/Training: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. \nExperience: Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical design experience.\nSkills/Technical Requirements: Industrial wiring and cable assemblies.\nHarness design and connector selection.\nIndustrial electrical documentation.\nBasic AC/DC power distribution and industrial control components.\nElectrical drafting practices.\nHigh-flex cable systems and e-chain applications is desirable.\nExperience with some electrical CAD system; Altium Designer, AutoCAD, or DraftSight is desirable. \n\nDesired AttributesExceptional attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.\nHighly organized with strong documentation skills.\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.\nProactive in identifying issues and driving tasks to completion.\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\nTakes ownership of assigned work and consistently follows through on commitments.\nWilling to learn new technologies and continuously improve engineering knowledge.\n\nJob Conditions: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required.\nPhysical Demands/Strengths: Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer terminal. Use of keyboard.\nProtective Devices Required: In required areas\nCompensation: The estimated base pay range for this position is $82,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors. This range represents Cohu’s good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for this role upon hire.
