This role will be responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and preventing technical issues related to our test systems, ensuring maximum uptime and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate combines hands-on problem-solving skills with solid communication and customer-facing experience.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nProvide technical support for Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) software and hardware, with a focus on Linux-based environments for our existing Installed base of customers.\nDiagnose and troubleshoot issues in operating systems, drivers, middleware, and test program execution.\nCollaborate with engineering teams to resolve escalated technical issues and provide feedback for product improvements.\nSupport system integration, configuration, and software updates for customer deployments.\nAssist in analyzing system logs, crash dumps, and error reports.\nDevelop and maintain knowledge base articles, troubleshooting guides, and training material for internal teams and customers.\nProvide remote and occasional onsite support to global customers and manufacturing partners.\nParticipate in new product introduction (NPI) by supporting validation, software installation, and customer acceptance.\nEducation and Experience:\nRequired\nBachelor’s or Associates degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).\n2+ years of experience in technical support, system administration, or software engineering in a Linux environment.\nProficiency with Linux command line tools, scripting (Bash, Python, or similar), and system monitoring.\nStrong troubleshooting skills in software/hardware interactions.\nFamiliarity with automatic test equipment (ATE), semiconductor test systems, or similar complex instrumentation.\nExperience with networking concepts, remote debugging, and software deployment.\nExcellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to both engineers and non-technical users.\nPreferred\nExperience with C/C++ or Python in a test environment.\nKnowledge of test methodologies, data acquisition systems, or device drivers.\nPrior customer-facing technical support experience in a semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or test equipment industry.\nUnderstanding of reliability, uptime, and performance requirements in manufacturing environments. This range represents Cohu’s good faith estimate of what it reasonably expects to pay for this role upon hire.
