Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.\nAs an Engineering Manager on the FINT (Financial Intelligence) team within FinHub in the Platform group, you'll lead the engineers building the account and transaction history infrastructure that underpins every Coinbase product. FINT owns the universal account primitive, the real-time transaction history engine, and the internal developer experience platform for FinHub. You'll guide your team through a critical inflection point: re-architecting these foundational systems for the next decade of scale while enabling new financial products like sub-accounts, retirement accounts, and agentic trading experiences.\nWhat you'll do:\nLead and grow a team of 6 engineers across multiple levels, coaching on technical excellence, career development, and organizational impact\nDrive the re-architecture of core account and history systems to support new product primitives and higher throughput demands at Coinbase's next stage of growth\nOwn the Finhub Tools roadmap, building internal UIs, dashboards, and agentic workflows that accelerate engineering and operations teams across the company\nShape architectural decisions across distributed systems, streaming pipelines, and full-stack tooling, fostering a culture of high-quality code and thorough design reviews\nCollaborate with product, finance, and engineering leadership to define and execute a quarterly roadmap, breaking complex infrastructure projects into iterative, shippable milestones\nPartner with the talent organization to recruit exceptional engineers and own engineering quality processes including SLA accountability, incident response, and on-call practices\nRequired skills and experience:\n7+ years in software engineering with at least 2 years of engineering management experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing engineers\nProven track record delivering and operating distributed systems at scale in production, with hands-on ability to review code, lead incidents, and triage issues when needed\nDemonstrated success translating ambiguous, long-horizon technical problems into concrete execution plans with measurable milestones\nExperience with financial systems, event-driven architectures, or high-precision transaction processing where correctness and reliability are critical\nComfort leading teams with diverse scope (backend services, streaming pipelines, and full-stack tooling) with an appreciation for developer and operator UX\nUtilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.\nPay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below).
