Expect to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” learn more about working at Coinbase.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on the Financing Engineering team within the Institutional group, you'll design, build, and scale the systems that safely manage billions of dollars in loans across Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, Agency Lending, Bilateral Lending, and more. Financing is foundational to the Prime Brokerage business, enabling customers to use leverage on trading positions and generate yield on long holdings. You'll own critical backend services that drive recurring revenue, increase trading activity, and keep institutional assets on platform.\nWhat you'll do:\nOwn the design and delivery of new financing products and features, from architecture through production launch, ensuring correctness and safety across high-value lending operations.\nBuild and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks that support loan lifecycle management, risk calculations, and real-time position tracking.\nDrive engineering excellence by improving developer tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and operational reliability across financing systems.\nPartner with Product, Risk, Operations, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, well-scoped technical solutions each quarter.\nLead technical initiatives that strengthen system resilience, reduce operational risk, and support the team's ability to ship safely at speed.\nRequired skills and experience:\n5+ years of backend software engineering experience, with production ownership of services handling high-reliability or financial workloads.\nProven track record designing, building, and scaling service-oriented architectures in Go, Java, or a comparable backend language.\nExperience building and operating distributed systems where correctness, availability, and data integrity are critical.\nDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical design reviews, and raise the bar on code quality across a team.\nFamiliarity with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability tooling in a cloud-native environment.\nUtilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.\nPosition ID: P78165\n#LI-Remote\nPay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below).
