The shuttle driver will be expected to respond to calls for service in a timely and professional manner to the off-campus residence hall, support and enforce College policies, and work effectively as a member of the Security staff and as a member of a diverse community. A positive test will disqualify candidates from this role.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDrive shuttle bus between Colby College and Downtown Waterville on a strict schedule\nRespond to fire and security alarms at the off-campus residence hall\nProvide lockout services for the off-campus residence hall\nEnforce College policies and complete necessary reports and paperwork\nMaintain an alertness for suspicious activities during shift\nDeal with incidents as necessary at the off-campus residence hall\nProvide informational assistance and promote good public relations\nComplete necessary reports and paperwork\nProvide informational sessions to the College community as necessary\nParticipate in on-the-job training\nAttend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions\nDisplay exemplary customer service skills and ensure positive interactions with the community\nPerform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice\nQUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education a plus\n Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with P (Passenger Bus Vehicle) endorsement required and must meet Colby’s Fleet Safety Policy requirements\nMust present a neat, clean, and professional image\nAbility to be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligations\nAdditional training and certifications in First Aid and CPR and First Responder Training preferred\nMust meet CDL federal requirements, including random alcohol and drug testing\nWell-developed public relations skills; able to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment; work with members of a diverse community; and utilize diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situations\nAbility to work independently and sit and drive for long periods of time\nEffectively operate a variety of equipment including portable/mobile radios and computers\nExcellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to complete clear, concise, and accurate logs, reports, and other documentation\nAbility to make an impact through work as a member of a team and diverse community\nKEY RELATIONSHIPS\nReporting to the assistant director of security, this position has significant interactions with students, faculty, staff, and other outside constituencies.\nWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nGeneral campus environment. Position involves frequent movement. Employee must be able to sit and drive for long periods of time. Some lifting and computer use possible.
