University Drive, McKinney, Texas, 75071We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.\nJob Summary:\nUnder the direction of the director of simulation, the individual will support the general operations of the Simulation Lab; prepare and/or operate simulation laboratory and associated equipment, medical simulators, computers, audio-visual equipment; prepares the appropriate and proper amount of materials and equipment necessary to effectively teach and evaluate each student during the simulated experience (SE); provide technical and general support during SE's, and cleans up manikin(s), equipment and supplies after SE's.Required Qualifications:\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nAssist in the instruction of healthcare-related education, providing appropriate simulated experiences that presents the student learning objectives outlined for the simulation, and provides debriefing opportunities and constructive feedback to students and/or faculty when requested.\nPrepare manikin(s) and/or standardized patients, equipment and supplies for upcoming simulation scenarios for the various programs as scheduled according to the written requests, ensuring each lab has the proper equipment and supplies for each student as requested.\nAssist with monitoring day-to-day activities in the Simulation Center and maintain a safe environment during the simulated experiences.\nEnsure evaluation of simulated experience (SE) forms are completed either on-line or on paper by students and/or attending faculty members after completion of SE.\nEnsure simulation labs, offices and files are adequately secured on a daily basis, and all personnel information is maintained with strictest confidentiality.\nAssist with the use and maintenance of the SynDaver manikins and equipment.\nAssist with maintaining an oxygen reserve for the building system, as well as individual oxygen bottles. This will include all compressed gases used in the health science programs.\nAssist with research, data collection, purchase recommendations and implementation of new simulation systems, including virtual reality systems.\nAssist with providing tours of the health science programs to various groups as scheduled.\nAssist with maintenance of equipment, troubleshooting operations, and generating reports on missing or broken equipment and supplies.\nSupplemental Functions\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nPerform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with College policies, procedures, and core values.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nKnowledge of manikin operation and functions, manikin troubleshooting and repair\nKnowledge of audio-video operations and troubleshooting\nKnowledge of medical equipment operations\nKnowledge of scenario development and implementation\nKnowledge of compressed gas systems\nKnowledge of audio-video system operations/features\nKnowledge of computers and various software applications\nCreative skills\nMechanical skills\nTeaching skills\nVerbal and written communication skills\nAbility to generate reports\nAbility to troubleshoot equipment problems\nPhysical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort\nHeavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Occasional physical effort required.\nRequirements\nAssociate degree in related field from an accredited institution required.\nMinimum of two (2) years related health care work experience in the chosen clinical field of practice, in simulation technology/education, general education or information technology required.\nPreferred\nBachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution\nTeaching experience at community college level desired, preferably in health care education.\nLicenses and Certifications\nCurrent Texas license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.\nACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric advanced Life Support (PALS) provider certification preferred.\nThis position is generally limited to working a maximum of 19.5 hours per week.
